You reach Mangart via both via ferratas... Via Italiana which is characteristic only for access to Mangart and Via de la Vita which runs much further left. This one is more of a junction for routes to Ponca or Kotovo sedlo or Mangart. From there you get to it via Mali Koritniški Mangart or a bit lower via bypass meadows. Via Italiana is shorter and easier with high ratings for *artistic impression*. Via de la Vita is long, strenuous, with highest ratings for the wild environment it passes through.

So there won't be a shortage of three degrees of adjectives for marking via ferrata difficulty in the Dolomites and Austria!!

Hribolaznik - I think most people going to Mangart still know which paths lead up and have maps with them if first time. Paths are well marked and solidly secured. If they don't know where to go, better stay home or go with a qualified guide for that.

For me the nicest is the one from Loška Koritnica, then to V konec and Čez Zagače, and over Hudo škrbina. It's mostly on Slovenian territory, but part runs along the border with Italy

What all one experiences on Mangart . Three women in flip-flops, one man in flip-flops, one woman in bra and one man BAREFOOT!!! up Slovenian to the top . Well something like that I haven't experienced yet. Otherwise today up Slovenian, down Italian, no snow problems. More said the predecessors.

Why do Šentflorjanci get so upset about what others do, even though it doesn't endanger them at all?

) Interesting to watch such people. They know themselves, probably better grip barefoot than with some rubber sole. I would probably stop and watch them for a long time good luck

SamoK, yeah you're a real forum Šentflorjanc who meddles in others' written opinions. Maybe you were that barefoot dude, your girl in shorts and boxers. Otherwise interesting to watch that barefoot guy. When surrounded by people he acted tough like nothing hurts. Then once he didn't know I was above him, he was just gritting teeth in pain. In my opinion he was totally cut up. And you can't walk on such sharp rocks barefoot, not even suitable for a dog although it has tough pads and 4 paws.

Whoever walks barefoot in mountains needs a nurse.

1st law of šentflorjanstvo: If I can't, others can't either (or shouldn't – or at least it's not proper).

Really no need to worry about others, what hiking gear they carry, if any, until an accident happens. Interestingly, those who are even more careful are "alpinists" with all gear, who get stuck in the wall. Gear doesn't make you mighty; you need to observe the surroundings more.

Hi, can you tell me if the Slovenian route is well secured on all critical parts? Or is extra caution needed somewhere?

|
| Becar6. 07. 2015 11:33:48 |
The Slovenian route is well secured like, e.g., Hanzova on Mojstrovka, Kopiščarjeva on Prisank, etc. A few times on somewhat less but still steep sections there is no wire rope, and there, as you say, extra caution is needed. The path is exposed but compared to other similar paths quite well secured. If you're used to such paths, go boldly; if experience is lacking, better first some easier paths. Not recommended for vertigo sufferers and those with a less stable step.
