Yes there really was a rockfall at that spot but the road is cleared so despite the no-entry sign everyone drives to the top.

On Sunday 19.08.2018 we used probably the last nicer weekend, drove to Mangart saddle, officially the path over the landslide (nothing dangerous) to the saddle is closed but still traffic like in cities. We continued the path - descent to Nogara bivouac, ascent via ferrata, quite a few of us on the ferrata, gear in much better condition than years ago, then Slovenian way to the top and descent Italian path. What all you see on these paths (not ferrata), no helmet, no harness, not speaking of shoes. At saddle by ferrata family sat - (foreigners CZ or SK), boy happily threw stones over edge into ferrata gully, other case on path above road, boy happily with mom threw stones down grass which rolled to road, on warning they stopped. Should warn these "tourist hikers" a bit on behavior in mountains.

I have similar experiences with Czech hikers too. To be honest they really get on my n........ And more and more of them. Horror!

MANGART, congrats on the winter ascent. This time there was no crowd, right? The road to the saddle was surely closed, where was the start then?

Unfortunately it wasn't a winter ascent, nor an ascent in winter conditions 
Winter ascent:
from 21.12. to 20.03. in walls not facing SE, S and SW and the exit
is higher than 1,500 m.
Ascent in winter conditions:
from 21.12. to 20.03. in walls facing SE, S or SW, from 01.12. to 20.12. and from 21.03. to 30.04. in walls facing W, NW, N, NE and E.

Well, the terminology of the alpine commission doesn't know/recognize winter ascents in walls facing SE, S and SW.
The mountaineering terminological dictionary at least conditionally recognizes them:
"winter ascent:
1. ascent performed in the calendar winter
2. from December 1 to February 28 ascent performed in the Himalayas",
since it specifies the directions only for ascents in winter conditions.

turbo, palček plezalček, I give you all right, because you are bigger experts, I just meant more like quasi winter ascent and only the quotes were missing at the word winter.... I like your successes that you string together in all conditions and I didn't mean anything else. Good luck further!

Zlatica, the flattering recognition of expertise certainly shouldn't be attributed to me, I just find it interesting how the experts define winter ascents.
Good luck to you too and lots of enjoyment in the world of flora. I always gladly read your and others' explanations and identifications of plants.

Currently, a winter ascent on some of our peaks is sort of like saying you're an alpinist if you've been to the Matterhorn

Alpine course student, then junior trainee, senior trainee and only then alpinist - approximately after three years you get the title of alpinist, but you have to go through all these phases and take exams - for trainees in your own AO, for alpinist under the watchful eye of the commission at national level.
