On Saturday, 21/9/2019 I drove by car to Mangart Saddle (5EUR eco tax is paid to the cooperative at the start of the climb). There followed a descent to the bivouac on the Italian side and a few minutes' access to Via Italiana. Quickly some Slovenian hikers gathered and with some spacing we entered the route. Via Italiana is excellently equipped and nicely scenic. Sometimes I'd wish some cable was a bit less loosely attached After climbing out I headed to the Slovenian route which is also super secured and much less exposed, so I really enjoyed it to the top. At the top there were quite a few hikers enjoying the sun. Worth mentioning that the logbook is full, as is the additional log block. I descended via the Italian path which is quite worn out. Towards the end of the descent (at about 2350m) one cable is torn off. Nothing serious, but probably installed for a reason and helps on ascent/descent on very worn terrain. Weather was great, short sleeves in the sun, long sleeves in the shade (on Slovenian and descent). Regards, Luka

Yesterday from the saddle via Slovenian to the top and down the Italian. Probably better to descend to bivouac and into the wall....at least no wind probably. Lots of people at the top, but no one stayed long. On return to car it cleared up, mists dancing around the peak...

What's the condition on the Italian route, has anyone been up there last couple days? Any ice?

I was up the Slovenian route yesterday, which [was] without snow or ice, rock dry ... we returned via the Italian route which had quite wet rock in the upper part, some soil and wet scree below dry, we went east though, I assume [it's] dry later.

Despite the late start I was first on the summit. Conditions phenomenal for hiking and skiing. On the summit nature made its artwork from the cross. Up the winter route back then skiing Italian to the lakelet back to the saddle and valley

One afternoon. To reach the top you have to leave the car already at the junction and continue on foot. Very little snow, so I barely climbed the chimney. Nothing new at the top and return in the direction of the ascent to the skis and to the valley.

Has anyone been to Mangart recently? Interested in the situation in the gully (route usually marked 5e that joins the winter one). Jump covered or bare? Thanks in advance
