Given that predecessors asked about cycling ascent and yeah I know this section is not cycling zadrega

, but I won't open a new thread mežikanje

, so... road is clear, just gotta pedal nicely to get to the top of the saddle jezik

, where today cold wind was blowing, a bit of sun, a bit of rain and cloud play, descent cold and accordingly fast... nasmeh

from here it's approx. 11.7km to Mangrtsko sedlo

129m long and approx. 60m above Mangartski potok

Thanks rozka. I'll train a bit more, then I hope I'll finally decide (get encouraged) and go this year. As for pressing pedals it's like this. The more you press them the greater the satisfaction at the top. Descent (sensibly and with helmet on head) is just sweet reward. velik nasmeh

Today in somewhat larger group of female and male colleagues we headed to Mangart saddle from Loška Koritnica. Path is easy and worth a visit. Went past hunting hut in L.K. then found little path that was once marked to Jačke. When above forest line wide views opened in which we enjoyed all the way to below Rdeča skala, and climbed also to Mali vrh (1991). From there descended to road which for most is easiest approach to saddle and partly on it, partly on marked path walked to Mangartska planina.

Weather forecast today again a bit different than announced zavijanje z očmi

...it was raining on me already in the morning in Loška Koritnica, so quick plan change...at hunting hut I turn left straight to Mangart hut over Jačke, where still somewhat visible old marks or cairns poorly. To end of forest border it showered me lightly all the way, then fog enveloped so I barely found the road velik nasmeh

. Also thought of Mangart summit I abandoned and went for strudel to Mangart hut. But since had to back to LK and not keen on road walk, learned of "shortcut"(THANKS nasmeh

), which from first tunnel on way back left over Naklo (think that's name zadrega

), which not marked no path although here and there seems like it but soon realize no, so today my "nose" worked a hundred an hour velik nasmeh

, not speaking of anticipation what's behind next tree, will it go or not, will outlet be or not?! Of course it was mežikanje

, first bit left then straight in gully then right side forest again left and arrived 100m before car in valley...nothing else jezik

Despite weather nice tour where I was all alone and even in better weather don't think different,... nasmeh

at LD there is a junction and here I changed plan as it was already raining hard

Poetry is a light, autumn ascent to Mangart saddle. On foot - on the road. With every step you can convince yourself how masterfully it is laid. You observe details you don't see from the car. And of course enjoy beautiful nature bathing in the sun.

Mangart Saddle is always a rewarding hike, even when there's not much time, like today for example.
On Mangart pasture there's about 20 cm of snow with some base, just enough to convince me to take skis. Right then it also starts snowing lightly. I go across the pasture and up towards Mesnovka, crossing the road in between, the path is partially trodden, as seen also with snowshoes. Above Mesnovka I reach the road again, snow is getting more, it's dry, on the sunny slopes there's also slight crust. At the last tunnel I end the tour, too windy, and also blown clean higher up. I ski down the road, then on my variant back to the pasture. Although it was a gray and windy day, it was really nice.
