Hello, I'm interested, since the road is closed, how much walking time to the hut at Mangart Saddle? Thanks for reply. l.p.

The hut isn't at the saddle but the turnoff is already before the tunnel. Road to it is normally drivable.

Why drive when the hiking trail is so nice. From parking where Mangart road starts, to Mangart saddle via Mangart pasture approx 2.5-3 hrs, hut is 15-20 min below saddle (if I remember right).

Road perfectly drivable to last tunnel. Further already quite wintery. But Mangart didn't want to show itself from the clouds. However according to the weather forecast for this week, the picture will certainly be different by the weekend.

Over the Stožje slide, past the pasture and up towards Mesnovka, through the last tunnel to the Hut below Mangart Saddle. New snow just a trace, but due to wind below the pasture, then again around the hut or saddle drifts up to half a meter. Dry snow, where it covers old snow, ice traps hide that are very dangerous for slipping, and so it will be until it really snows properly. Conditions from 3.1.2016 also forwarded to ARSO-meteo.si State Avalanche Service.

These snow drifts create, in my view, the nicest winter motifs in the mountains!

Finally at least on the saddle more winter conditions.

Hi, what's the road condition to the saddle? Possible with touring skis or how much walking on foot? Been only once and that in summer, don't remember how much avalanche risk there is. Thanks and regards.

Another one who likes it when others "pedal" him. Check the PIC website (traffic information center), you'll see. There you'll find out everything that's happening on the roads. You can see all that and much more on the "geostik" website. Oh, the road to Mangart Saddle is officially closed!!

Julius, please tell me where on PIC and geostik one can get an answer to what the conditions are on the road for touring skis? I'm asking seriously

Ovbi!? Isn't that enough for you? Closed RT-902, Strmec - Mangart, road to Mangart Saddle, complete closure due to snow-covered roadway. If I missed something and the question was for "rollers", then I apologize.

Check the post on 4.1.2016, then the road was also officially closed, but it wasn't possible to go up with touring skis. So what the hell does the information that the road is closed help if one is asking about the conditions for a hike with touring skis?! I'm also interested, for example, in how far one needs to go on foot.

I was in the mountains, so....from Mesnovka onwards possible on skis, if more falls then even lower avalanches though with snowfalls from that big gully onwards and around the last tunnel.

Does anyone know how much walking time without skis is needed from parking to snow start. What are the conditions like these days?

Zasavčan... on Tuesday 2.2.2016 I arrived by car to the penultimate tunnel, then on foot. At the hut up to 30 cm of snow, higher up more but in drifts.
