Today up the middle path, down the upper path, at the sharp junction between two trees leading to the cirque, we continued straight down and joined the lower path where it's still cca 20 min to the car. mežikanje

Still snow in a few gullies, crossed without ice axe...soft. nasmeh

Elsewhere bare.
Sadly, erosion is washing away hunter paths and passages are increasingly difficult in places. zavijanje z očmi

Matkova Kopa was still completely dry on Saturday. Unusual for this date.
With Vinko we were wandering up there on its paths and trails. We ascended via the middle path, descended via the upper one and below Zelenice turned downhill on the extremely interesting variant that Zlatko already mentions on the previous page. This part of the "path" is one of the best that Kopa offers. Interesting, exposed passage under the walls downhill to the middle path.
It was a nice day yesterday.

Chamois are regular visitors to this path. nasmeh

We followed their trail to the big gully before Grintovec (Jerebič), where we turned downhill right through steep forest to the middle path.
Orientation loop is only there where we start the crossing under the walls and the entry to this crossing is exposed, the trail not visible.
The scenery there is really tempting, no rush for us. But I think it's more suitable for downhill.

Today on this gem above Matk. Started at 6:30 and since the forecast was more unstable, I rushed along the road to Matk at a fast pace, below Matk to the logging trail and to the lower/middle path. Some say the lower is from the hut, some that it's from Matk where the fixed rope helps...anyway...the latter today quite overgrown and wet. The rope still holds and serves its purpose. Soon it got stuffy and accordingly the step heavier. Above 1800m more pleasant, even some cool breeze. Descended via the cirque in the corner. Weather held nicely! At the hut cows and fresh water that hit the spot! I'm fed up with summer and honestly already calling for autumn! Take care!

I hope the weather holds; if not, I'll go only to the krnica

Clouds draw interesting shapes of all kinds

At the hut I stretch a bit on the bench/swing and enjoy the tinkling of the bell and the gurgling of water filling the trough...

M.Kopa-Krnička (12.11.22)

Matk's kingdom is nice to share with friends again. At 6.30 we head up the forest slope with Franc, Sonja and Brigita towards the middle path to Matkova Kopa. Rogelj on our left meant we turn right to the upper path. We'll ascend past Matkov's tooth. Before reaching the ridge I spot a path transversely right downward, might be that nice one under the walls (upper path). We traverse right and before the tooth up the gully. Next year I'll check another variant behind the tooth from the Austrian side. This year snow will beat me. After the snapck we descend the southern path, spice it a bit over the annoying scree. At Matkova Krnica then up, as Krnička gora was waiting. This scree under our feet really ground us. Nice ascent to 2061m. We spiced the return on the Austrian side and along the wall to a nice cave. Around and into the gully that brings us back to the saddle. We drink something and quickly to the lower path. This path is the fastest way down the valley. Nice pathless hike above Matkov kot.

There is still some snow in the approach gully, but it is being diligently cleared.

Today again in my favorite areas. Up the middle path to Kopa, back down the upper and along the path under the walls to the middle path and to the valley.
There's little snow on these paths, but the krnica is still nicely filled. Krnička gora is also full of snow.
