Hm, what about Poliški Špik, seems you overlooked that

Oh, Silvo, what a disappointment You're so careful about Montaž, sorry, Poliški špik, ouch, I meant Špik nad Policami, but in the contribution for Gore-ljudje you were so careless that you wrote NEVEJSKI PREVAL. Nevejski preval https://www.gore-ljudje.si/Kategorije/Novosti/%c5%a1pik-nad-policami Don't you know that the saddle has Slovenian name Na Žlebeh By the way, you drive there through Fusine and Valromana and past Tarvisio, both settlements have Slovenian names Bela Peč and Trbiž, but on the signs marking the start and end of the settlement there is no Slovenian name. It should be, because they are bilingual places, after all a bit further from Trbiž towards Tolmezzo, on the signs marking the settlement, you can nicely see the Slovenian name for Šenkatrijo and Lužnice. Maybe someone should be informed about Trbiž and Bela Peč too, after all also about the saddle Na Žlebeh, what do you think

In the mentioned contribution on the 'gore-ljudje' site, by consistently following Tuma, instead of Nabojs it could say Nabojec and instead of Jôf dei Disteis (not Jof dei Disters) Vrh Strmali, since Tuma records the peak as most now name the saddle: Forc. dei Disteis / Vrh Strmali. Also Viš would sound more harmonious to some Slovenian ear when naming Višnja Gora, to German ear Wischberg would be more pleasing and to Friulian Jôf Fuart. And surely there is someone who can comment that the hill between Žrd and Vrh Krnice is not Grubje, but Vrh Grubje (groblja). Pecol according to mention by J. Seliškar, summarizing Tuma, should be replaced by Montaž or even better, as Thuma further explains: "Slovenes from Carinthia once grazed here and named the pasture after the castle lords von Bramberg-Pramperki." According to Tuma on the naming Na/V Žlebeh: at 1520 m is Cregnedul with cheese dairy, below it saddle 1195 m and pasture 1166 m Nevea, Slovenian: V Žlebeh, according to document from 1582 also Slips or Glača. On the second highest in the Julians after the initially listed name variants: "Špik nad Policami or Poliški Špik or Bojec, Jôf del Montaž, Bramkofel," adds: "Dr. Kugy's Jôf del Montasio is not known among Friulians, but only Jôf del Montaž, with hard Friulian ž." After mentioning the naming of the mountain by Hacquet, Findenegg and Kugy, the thought concludes with: "All these names are touristic, although appropriate."

Very nice that you taught me about the names. Thanks. For naming I used the map and the names written on it and thus overlooked the nice Slovenian name of the saddle Na Žlebeh as well as for Vrh Strmali (is that the peak on the left viewed from pasture Pecol and/or the saddle between the peak and Špik nad Policami)... On the map among others it says Sella Nevea, Nevejski preval and V Žlebeh. Reply to Turbo: Is it carelessness if I use Nevejski preval as written on the map and not V Žlebeh (also on the map) or Na Žlebeh, which would probably also make sense. Otherwise everyone is the blacksmith of their own fortune, isn't it?

Has anyone been to Montaz these days? Conditions, given the thaw that's coming?

Hello. Does anyone know first-hand (or can direct me where I could check) if the path to Montaz was affected by recent floods or is it safe to visit? Thank you very much for the help!

They are not closed. Personally I haven't been up there, but I can tell that nothing special happened in this end. I think it should be normal.

There were no floods there. Nothing special for Nabojs... Montaž is the neighbor.

I was on Montažu on Tuesday 8.8. up the Findenegg gully, down the Pipan ladder, which is new, wider and more stable than the previous one. The path is safe for visiting.

Was there today. Starting point and path completely OK. Lojtra is better, but the cables above it are quite vertical. This part is more exposed than before the renovation. Regards

Does anyone know how much walking the loop Pecol-Montaž-Cima di terrarosa-Pecol would take? From the map I see the path is possible, but can't imagine the timetable at all.

Everything is nicely described in the Julijske Alpe guidebook.

Thanks Janez for the direction, I don't have the guidebook, that's why I'm asking on the forum if someone has already done this and has an approximate timetable.
