Even before, conditions weren't dry, some snow patches on the path, short icy step on the ridge, winter gear therefore mandatory. Now it's winterly, as you say, much lower; for consideration also the fatal slip of the hiker on Ceria Merlone a few days ago.

Road from valley to alpine pasture well packed, further soft snow. Conditions very varied from hard ground to sinking over knees. On ridge strong wind and very cold. Descent in approach direction and ski down to valley.

Hi, at the Stuparich bivouac about 14 days ago I saw a notice from 2020 about a landslide "on" Dragon Ridge and the path damaged-closed, but I don't know the actual status.

The situation is the same as Rozka said, as far as I know there is no plan this year to fix it (all money invested in new Pipan ladder).

And how does that landslide look? That's the descent from the saddle to the SZ side. In summer there is mostly mud on the descent. In winter you don't see it for two reasons: covered in snow, and secondly there is no one there in winter except here and there someone shows up

Via Amalia was the best about 20 years ago, when there were a couple of old pitons hanging in it. Everything else was nice scrambling. Now everything is bolted. Equipped for “mandatory SVK use”. But when you scramble up grassy terrain above, all those bolts below lose their meaning.

I went to check Amalia. The condition of the landslide or collapse doesn't seem different to me from that in August 2020 when I was last there. With poles it goes without issues. The cable can also help. The Leva path also has a sign that it's closed, although apart from two pulled-out pegs at the very start, I didn't notice other peculiarities. Merlone is bp, equipped with 60 cables.

If that's the landslide on the 2nd picture that I mentioned, I can say that it can't really be changed/repaired. Mixture of sand, rocks and soil (field). Those used to it will go there, others will rather visit the summit from the Pecol side.

Špik nad Policami or Montaz, no question but fact and it would be right that the editor enters both names both on the forum and in the mountains section. Let it be known that Slovenian people also lived (I hope they still do) in these mountains.

The proper Slovenian name for this mountain is Špik nad Policami. The name Montaz is a distortion and abbreviation of the name Jof di Montasio. The name Montasio derives from medieval Latin: Montes agi. Montaz is just the name for the pasture, only the addition Jof means it's a peak. source: dr. Henrik Tuma; Nomenclature of the Julian Alps

Editor, according to the explanation, a change is needed and entry of Špik nad Policami and Jof di Montasio.

Said and done. I wrote to PZS regarding the mountain naming and recommended the Slovenian name ŠPIK NAD POLICAMI and urged them to recommend using this name to all mountaineering societies or (and) at least the correct Italian name.
