Is the road to Planina Pecol already passable by car?

Friday evening we headed to Pecol and the plan was to climb Montaž via Findenegg Glacier early Saturday morning. Winter room is open and clean, has basics - bunks. No one but us was there, but a drone flew over the hut when arriving. Night wasn't cold, slept as much as we could. Started hiking around 4 and quickly advanced to saddle. Forecast for first part of the day was excellent, but rain started at saddle. Continued and soon at Grande Cengia. Clouds darker, weather worsening. Passed worst part of ledge, rain stronger so took small gully to Findenegg Glacier entrance and found cave where we sheltered and waited to see what next. Further forecast bad, decided to turn back and when starting worst traverse part snow fell. Started return at 2470 m. Traverse slowly and safely, soon back at saddle. Clouds parted a bit but thunder towards Kanin... went along ridge to Curtissons but weather worse so hurried back to hut. Last half hour rain soaked us but two Laškas buried in snow by hut waited so quickly back. Conditions not best but doable... if we knew how to read weather it'd be better nasmeh

Started from Pecol and over glacier to summit. Return to ladder, jump to other side, ascent also to Vrh Brda and descent to valley. At top quite cold, windy and occasionally foggy.

Snow patches are still around in places, but winter gear is not needed, you can go everywhere without it.

On Saturday 20.7.2019 we headed to Montaž from Planina Pecol. At 5:30 we start walking, meeting marmots on grassy slopes and chamois a bit higher at the entry to the rocky section of the path. 08:30 we're at the summit. Rarely anyone shows up at such an early hour. Sky clear, even the highest Slovenian peaks visible with Triglav leading. We want to go to Špik Hude Police via the Left. We miss it and end up on an unmarked path towards Vrh Brda. We continue to the top on an unpleasant steep path. We head back, big crowds barely on the ascent yet, on Pipan's ladder it's quite packed. We continue descent, find the path to Špik Hude Police but due to clouds and poor views we go to the valley instead. Junction for Špik Hude Police practically invisible. Italian markings very poor also on the Montaž ridge. Some sign or note on the rock wouldn't hurt. Helmet mandatory!

Towards S.Hude Police there is more than enough marked path. If there's nothing, it means you missed it

I assume you already missed it on the ridge, because to Vrh brda 2661m leads a network of military paths, admittedly unmarked but nicely passable from below Pipan's ladder. The path along the ridge to Montaž doesn't even need serious markings, because you can't miss it. The marking-branch off to the Left is indeed more modest and at the spot where on that slippery terrain everyone looks more underfoot than elsewhere. Looking at a map and a sense of orientation always helpsmežikanje

Hi

On Sunday we headed to Montaž from planina Pecol. Along the way we met almost only Slovenes, some marmots and small chamois. At the saddle we almost turned towards Findenegg glacier, but then preferred Pipan ladder. Super scrambling towards the ladder, terrain IS compact, also enough belays; path well marked. In upper part visibility was quite poor all the time. Pipan ladder in good condition, only one metal step not attached on one side. In fog in upper part we quickly found the summit.

Then we thought... uh behind us still quite some hikers. Best descend through glacier. And it was real adrenaline adventure. Super crumbly, stones fly everywhere you step... NOT compact - do not recommend. Anyway now I know why on stone below: ALPINISTI ESPERTI velik nasmeh

Once out of crumbly glacier part descent is ok - of course if rock dry. If wet no. Amount of protection = 0 (except few meters cable in very bottom at crossing). Well, at end of hard descent part we met really nice chamois, balanced the troubles from upper part. Then gas over scree and to deserved cold drink in hut near parking.

Yesterday in sunny weather with my honey enjoyed the ascent to Montaž. Ascent and descent via the Pipan ladder path. The path is OK and well marked. But quite a bit of caution is needed for falling stones and ascent without a helmet is stupidity. On the summit and along the path quite some people and also plenty almost domesticated ibex. Tour ended passing a curious marmot with a little beer jezik in the alpinists' hut above the parking lot, happy nasmeh that we used the sun midweek before the forecast longer bad weather, also over the weekend.

Hello!
Maybe someone knows if any snow has fallen on the path to Montaž (Findenegg couloir and Pipan's ladder) these days that could last until Sunday? Thanks for the answers!

Just looked at pictures on FB from today's hike to Montaž, there's around 20cm of snow. Snow starts at the red bivouac.
