I think it's better to park and walk to Planina Zajavornik.
We went on Prešeren Day, early enough. First time past Planina Zajavornik for me, before always from other directions. Nice snowy path through Pokljuka forests, some ascent to Blejska koča at Lipanca, but really pleasant trail even for families. Surprised us the hut was closed on holiday! Then up to Mrežce. Already midway to Blejska koča we put on crampons, safer, some parts icy. Dream weather, air, views to Triglav... from Viševnik to Kepa. This year already some great winter hikes. We're soaking it up, want to imprint all the nice scenes from ruins to larches, blue sky, white underfoot... Pokljuka has its charm. Just parking on weekends is an issue, they were handing out tickets too...

Yesterday upon arriving at Rudno polje the sun was shining. On the way to Mrežce it got cloudy and clouds covered the mountains. Nothing was visible from the top. Skiing
on already slightly crusted and heavy snow was difficult. At the end of the day we climbed Hotunjski vrh and skied down to Zatrnik. Details tomorrow on the Gore-ljudje website.

Yesterday we Škofja Loka retirees Četrkovci PD Škofja Loka did our main most demanding goal of the hiking season - Mrežce from planina Lipance via Lipanski vrh. Start was soon after the former Šport hotel. By the road there is a marked path that leads to planina Zajavornik. Across a small forest you soon reach the beautiful planina Zajavornik. This pasture is alive. Cattle is grazing. On the pasture there is a mountain hut where they kindly serve. Then across the pasture through forest to the path towards planina Lipanca. On planina Lipanca we split into two groups. The more experienced went to Lipanski vrh and on to Mrežce. The others back to Rudno polje. To Lipanski vrh difficulty is nothing special. The ascent to Mrežce is something else. Descent into the gully before Mrežce summit is not for everyone. It is secured - steel cables help. All happy we settled on the grass at Mrežce summit and caught our breath from the demanding ascent. Then down to planina Lipanca. Below Mrežce summit at that flat area a herd of cattle is grazing. Above planina Lipanca we headed to the marked path to Rudno polje. The path from Lipanca to Rudno polje drags on. At Rudno polje parking the rest of the group was already waiting. The parking was completely full yesterday. We celebrate the successful hike as usual, if we are around here, at hotel Krek, where they serve excellently. For a larger group need to arrange hot meal a day before - not expensive - highly recommend.

Yesterday we walked to Mrežce and Debeli vrh and did a circular path above Lipanca on the first snow.

This year Mrežce succeeded beautifully for us already the second time. Sunday was gorgeous, sunny, clear sky, since last week when Silvo was there, quite a bit more snow. We went past planina Zajavornik to Blejska koča. We met the new caretaker, now still renovating Blejska koča, but it will open soon, except Mondays and Tuesdays. On shady parts the path is a bit frozen, but we managed without crampons. Winter gear is definitely necessary in the backpack. The path to Mrežce summit is trodden and there was more and more snow, 30-40 cm at the top. There were quite a few hikers and we all enjoyed the beautiful views...wonderful.

Today by car to pl. Zajavornik, where space only for about 7 cars. Further to the monument not plowed. Trail further to Blejska koča and to the summit well trodden. Further towards Lipanski vrh nobody has gone yet.

I was yesterday at Mrežce. I parked at the turnoff for šport hotel (space for cca 5-7 cars). The road to planina Zajavornik is plowed but icy, at least it looked like that where the footpath crosses it and where you also park. But yesterday there were 10 cars parked there.

On Sunday February 5 we headed to Mrežce. We parked at the turnoff for hotel Pokljuka and continued towards Blejska koča. The path is nicely trodden further to Mrežce too. We had gear anyway but didn't use it.

Today after many years again to Mrežce. In Zatrnik it was drizzling and on the way it got more and more foggy. We parked the car in front of Hotel Pokljuka, minus 3 deg. C.

First time to Blejska koča via planina Zajavornik, which was completely in fog. Path to Lipanca well trodden, partly icy, mostly packed snow. What dense fog is we saw only at the hut.

In the hut very pleasant atmosphere, warm, homely music, we ate plum dumplings, then on to Mrežce.

Steeply up the trodden trail in denser and denser fog. When almost under the summit it started opening up and opened. nasmeh Wonderful views! At the top half an hour, admiring, photographing, observing. No one anywhere, calm, warm, no wind.

On Sunday we ascended from Rudno polje to Mrežce via the valley under the western slope. First we reached the ridge edge between Debelim vrhom and Razor and due to fog skied back down the valley on excellent snow, second time after weather improvement reached Mrežce summit and skied down again. In the forest lots of bare spots and little snow.

If in March we noted little snow, yesterday it was different. In the forest at Rudno polje nicely white, higher even more and skis sank deep when ascending to Mrežce. Unfortunately no views. On the first summer day from Rudno polje to Mrežce. Cows already grazing on the ski slope, higher not yet. In the forest lots of flowers and especially loud bird singing. Path to Lipanca somewhat solitary. Above the hut different flowers start, full of gentians, hairy hawkweed, alpine pasque, also purple alpine bells and arnica, and many others. Path without special features, no one on the path, some at the hut, and those foreigners. At the top luckily a little breeze cooling the heat. Views wonderful. Return same way. On Saturday on Pokljuka around noon it was raining, then partially cleared. So almost could say no people beyond Blejska koča, if not for a bus of hikers from Zagreb appearing a bit below Debelim vrhom.
Route circular from Blejska koča: Mrežce, on to Debeli vrh above Lipanca and down lower path back to hut.
