When my wife and I were deciding on yesterday's tour, the wife expressed a wish to head for an easier one. She wanted Ojstrica, which years ago was one of our first harder tours into high mountains. Harder because it was key for overcoming fear of more exposed high terrain. Back then I couldn't imagine it even in dreams, let alone her, that we would ever tackle very demanding and even extremely demanding tours. Coincidences led us to some right people who introduced us to the world of such tours. Yesterday we also met some of those mountain buddies on Korošica and talk immediately turned to joint plans for this year.
Anyway, yesterday we enjoyed nature's beauties, took time for observing and photos. Weather was spot on, air very clear and views far around.
But the tour didn't pass completely without fear, a viper made sure of that, scaring the wife badly as she nearly stepped on it sunning on a rock in the middle of the trail.

Today I climbed Ojstrica from Logarska via Kopinškova. There are still 2 snow patches on the route (at entry and on upper scree). Lower snow patch crossable without issue, upper one fully bypassable. Weather already superb and quite hot.

The keeper at Koča na Klemenči jami absolutely advises against Kopinškova without winter gear. Snowfield under summit still huge, almost unmelted and sheer.
Via Škarje apparently just barely doable, but advises great caution too.

So I chose Krofička, attaching pic from top towards both routes to Ojstrica.

Maybe around 5pm? Since heli was heard.
Otherwise yesterday someone went down that upper Kopinškova snowfield despite all gear and skill. Luckily not fatal.

I trust only Sabina and Tonetu Karničarju among hut keepers, who are every day in mountains in that area where they are (Kočne-Grinta). Most keepers don't even poke their head out the window, no hard feelings, it's true.

I too talked with the hut keeper at Koča na Klemenči jami. Regarding Ojstrica, it's as SunBurned said, Planjava still full of snow and winter conditions

About trusting the hut keeper or not: if he says no, then no. That's how it is for me, others by their own judgment.

In our mountains every year above an altitude of about 2000 meters until the beginning of August you need to have winter gear with you, because there are still snowfields on the paths. This year due to frequent coolings it will probably be optimal in mid-August. If you are not skilled in using crampons, then have at least an ice axe with you. This of course means for crossing more gentle snowfields, but not at all that one on Kopinškova to Ojstrica.

Yesterday on Ojstrica, up Kopinškova ridge, down Škarje valley. In my PERSONAL experience all passable without winter gear.
On Kopinškova under summit that snowfield covers about 15 m of path over scree. Snow at 12 not hard, quite softened, due to steepness I decided to bypass it on the lower side over scree. Careful steps and no problem.
Descent through Škarje: 3 snowfields (2 smaller between Ojstrica and Škarje, no issues) and large snowfield (quite southern-facing snow) covers marked path under north face of Ojstrica, about 80 m long. Since slope fairly gentle, I crossed it... with poles no trouble.
Everything else on path super and OK.

I don't know how much the keeper walks these paths, but surely he has many contacts with regulars and random guests and knows how to advise. It is understandable if he adds a bit to the difficulty, because he doesn't want to be responsible.
I am convinced that he means well to everyone, and I hold nothing against him if he "scared" me a little too much; after all, Ojstrica won't run away.
It is also necessary to consider that with this heat the conditions improve from day to day and the data from the previous day are practically already outdated.

"Time to meet our favorite annual destination again", we said to ourselves when our steel horse drove us from Podvolovjek towards Planina Podvežak. It a bit "grumbled and choked", since weather conditions on certain sections drilled quite a few potholes, dips, ditches into the road - more than last year; despite all parking full, hikers scattered over the peaks. We decided on the usual path (in between a sample of snow - for "mushing") to Mala Ojstrica. Quite a few headed of course further along the ridge to Ojstrica. Before the hut we lingered a bit with martinček, then clouds covered the little sun and it stayed quite cold. Without crampons and ice axe the hutkeeper advised against the Kopinškova path and to Planjava (apparently two even slid - luckily without major consequences); judging by the reaction it seems several reconsidered and postponed it till next visit; anyway Korošica is so beautiful it's worth returning; lp
