Planina Blato-toll

Print
urbancek22. 10. 2012 18:25:35
I don't get this with those Bohinj forums either. It's the most expensive, almost usurious, and for one mountain pasture (the most expensive should be at the most famous Slovenian hiking starting points (Vrata, Kam. Bistrica, Logarska)). But I wonder most about people, why exactly to Planina Blato, why everyone rushes up there, what's so special there??zmedenzavijanje z očmi

Up there is Triglav. Otherwise, I'd say if they're collecting, they should collect at Mangart saddle, where there's asphalt and quite a few kilometers and altitude.

Toll - parking fee was collected today too. Whether it's intended for transport to the pasture or for parking, I don't know, because I was on foot. In short - the parking hut is still "alive".

Where in Bohinj the parking lots are where the parking fee is collected until 31.10. is exactly specified in the decree. Planina Blato is not that.

I have no problem paying for these things. The road to Vogar was excellent in summer when we used it, and I really didn't mind giving those 10 eur. But now it seems to me that the Bohinjci arranged it a bit on their ownnasmeh.

I really don't know when you'll stop with this? It's not true that Bohinj is the most expensive! Park all day around UKC because of illness, and a Serb will take half your pension!! That bothers no one. But in Bohinj because of luxury it bothers everyone!

No no sirt, comparing Bohinj with Ljubljana center is ridiculous. Just in passing: at the parking by the train station, which is an incredible 5 minutes from UKC, all-day parking is 7 euros. So in Ljubljana center it's 30% cheaper than at Planina Blato. Let's be serious. And not even getting into traffic volume.

Me too wondering what's so exceptional on that pasture that folk is willing to pay more toll for one lousy forest road than from Trieste to Venice on modern highway?

Triglav, someone said? Go from another starting point and it's free. Same for most other goals reachable from there.

OK Mangart is Mangart but even that's cheaper. But what's so special on Planina Blato? I think it's that sheep syndrome: if something costs money it must be better than free.

That UKC one is true. Felt it on my own skin about 10 years ago and even then probably cheaper. THAT IS piggery!

Hey my dear sirt1, around UKC in Ljubljana there's no Serb owning any parking house, which is a big shame for us users, because MOL parking lots and garage are more than three times cheaper than the others, owned by modern exploiters of the Slovenian nation.
I recommend you read the parking ticket next time, so you'll know whose parking house and whose lot it is.
As for the prices of parking houses around UKC, I curse them too.

There's no point discussing compensation for using the mountain road or parking up here, nothing will be resolved that way. I myself went to Planina Blato on Saturday, paid 10 eur, got two blue tickets for PARKING worth 5 eur each (in summer I got one white one worth 10 eur). Parked at the last parking lot right before the ramp next to the wooden beam with TNP sign. On return, unpleasant surprise waiting, stuck on wiper - warning from TNP supervisor - that I made an offense parking by TNP sign, saying I blocked view to the board with part of car and visitors didn't see the well-known sign banning further driving and parking beyond ramp (didn't obstruct traffic though). Supervisor wrote note at 11 am. If he was at that parking in morning, he'd see everything behind that open ramp was already parked with LJ plates and Austrian and German ones too...they drove past very visible sign mežikanje and none of those cars had note on wipers mežikanje We are tourism people...or how to chase away locals...

In the DECISION on traffic regime in the Bohinj Lake area, article 7/paragraph 2 states that compensation for forest road use to Vogar or pl. Blato is paid from 1 May to 15 Oct, lake parking lots until 31.10.
Bohinj folks like you.
If a cold beer on the return was included in the price, it would somehow be OK.velik nasmeh

The price is set according to supply and demand. Now it'll be 15€ apparently, and we'll pay that too, just grumble a bit louder that in the shop for that money we buy a crate of Radler (which the noble Bohinjci drink in concern for our health).jezik

The most phenomenal is the calculation, though. From Stara Fužina (600m) to Blato or Vogar (1000-1050m) by hiking trail it's a bit over an hour for over 400m of elevation gain.
By the zigzag road around we drive almost half an hour and have the impression that we've saved God and half the walk. For the extra half hour of walking, therefore, a damn hefty payment. But who will walk if everyone drives, eh?eek

Calculation is a good thing, but some still prefer to drive with the car to the end, whether it is worth it or not. With it they would go even further if possible, though the purpose of the tour is different.
We go to the mountains also to walk and I don't know why that half hour or hour of walking bothers so much. It is just a warm-up before the main part of the tour. This also eliminates all dissatisfaction before a nice day starts, and the toll collectors are left without their undeserved income.
Something similar happens in Kamniška Bistrica, where most drive although it is not allowed; the calculation again says a good half hour of pleasant walking for warm-up!
People are different, but Slovenes are obviously in love with their steel horses and find it hard to part from them.
With them to the end and further!?

People go to mountains with various health issues that come with age. Different joint wear causes pain and the person who once easily did 10+ hours now somehow manages max 5 hours. And happily walks among golden larches, not on asphalt road. Even if they have to pay 10 euros for that "luxury".

Well, this calculation holds only if you tell me where in Stara Fužina to park for free. All-day parking at the lot is 8 eur. So exactly 2 euros are saved. Not even for one beer zavijanje z očmi.

Why in Bohinj, wherever else I went never any parking issues or toll, parking fee, even Bovec and Kranjska Gora have excellent starting points, peaks.

As long as folk pay they will cash in.
There are plenty of other starting points and it's easy to avoid this mountain pasture.

If going just to Vogar from Stara Fužina, then really only good half hour difference vs car. But here not talking about trip to Vogar. If going further, difference much bigger, good 1.5 hours towards Koča na planini pri Jezeru, so 3 hours both ways. If goal e.g. Debeli vrh, Dolina Sedmerih or such, difference very noticeable

With all-day parking in valley 8 euros, if multiple days then multiple 8 euros (up there 10 euros maybe for week), no calculation to stay in valley.

Actually most of them even advocate or justify (also due to laziness) paying the usurious toll of 10 euros. So the price is still too low.
