A short time ago I visited Pohorje. Must praise the path markers for excellent marking of hiking trails

Nice achievement. Just curious, how long did the ascent Hoče - Belvi take? And maybe average speed? Thanks.

Congratulations "bos". I might tackle similar tours myself sometime , so I'm interested how much time you needed for the entire route and approx. how many elevation meters accumulated. Thanks in advance. The whole thing could be moved under the topic "Mountain biking"

Yes, if @bos and others used modern tech like Garmin instead of some Sigma versions and published them publicly on connect.garmin.com you wouldn't need to ask about averages, total time, elevations... because his route would be ,,forensically dissected,, practically every meter and second with lots more data. It's really hard for some to read your little stories about times, kms, elevations... backed by sigma pics and photo galleries like after one hour at this junction, after two at that hut, after three in front of that beehive, after four I ate a sandwich and so on... If you're operating with times, elevations, lengths... GPS is definitely objective. Sure every EURO counts today but years ago I cut back on bike gear a bit to get it mainly for route archiving and it's a good feeling reviewing winter routes at -20 that you slogged through in summer at +35 and vice versa. Anyway congrats on the route done, length and elevations definitely high figures and I know it wasn't easy. The topic on Pohorje bike traverse is already open under Mountain biking and admin won't have much work moving it....

31.10.2012. Afternoon ascent to Mariborska koča. Started from Pivola or rather from gostilna Rečnik. Snow starts at the second forest entrance in the upper part of the village. From gostilna Veronika there's more than 10 cm... At Petkovo sedlo due to strong west wind. Last part of the path where the trail to Framski slap branches off and road is left has over 25 cm snow, which is quite wet and slippery. In the hut some fortification and quickly down, completely forgot that night is now one hour closer. Down I went on the path past Hočka koča, which is still holding up well but anyway... Here it was already dark. New shock when I realized I left the light in the vehicle... So from the farm (Viharnik?) straight down through forest to asphalt road.. just a bit from church Sv. Lenart. From there down to Pivola and Rečnik. I love that path... Asphalt, village, forest, meadows... everything is there. Views are wonderful.

On Saturday 12.01.2013 afternoon hiking - circular on Pohorje to Areh from Fram settlement combining two hiking trails: ,,Pot požgane Planice,, to Areh and descent from Mariborska koča via ,,Jugova pot,, to Fram. Connection between them along the Slovenian mountain traverse route and in this part also short addition off the official trail to the highest peak or point east of Žigartov vrh on Pohorje - the indistinct 1231 m high Vir:Geopedia. Sedovec is not exactly very interesting but worth a visit for better understanding of the Fram part of Pohorje, which it kind of concludes at Sedovec point. Terrain frozen, snow here and there in pleasant sunny weather due to southern exposures. Total 27 km, 1100 elevation meters in five hours and forty minutes total activity. GPS track:Pohorje nad Framom all around, 12.01.2013 Best

Fram is definitely a convenient starting point for routes higher on Pohorje also due to proximity of motorway and direct Fram exit. Pronounced southern exposures pleasant in winter time. From what was seen the paths are visited but not too much and obviously Jugova pot is more used. Both exemplarily marked with blazes and praise to the markers. Nicely presented also on... PD Fram. Jugova pot ,,upwards,, on Hribi.net pages already presented by @lajcicar and it helped us...Jugova pot/Hribi.net. Best Bruno/bruny

After yesterday's heavy rain and later snowfall, today I hiked up again towards the Three Kings and Osankarica to check the new conditions. Although it only whitened here, I put on my gaiters right away, expecting plenty of new snow higher up. My hunches were right. Already at Planina pod Šumikom, about 15 cm snow cover awaits me, which grows to 30 cm towards Osankarica, of course much more in drifts in places. The snow is dry, but sinks into the old base in spots, which isn't fully frozen underneath yet. To Black Lake I broke trail fully, snow depth is very uneven, in the forest it's minimal in places since a lot stayed on the trees, but when you step out from under the trees you sink deep into snow. From the lake to Osankarica it's already trodden. Back to Three Kings along the nicely plowed road, but there I had an unusual encounter with two wild boars. We eyed each other strangely a bit and before I pulled out the camera, they bolted to the upper side of the road into the bushes. A bit further I met my wife with the younger son. Together we continued to hot tea at Jakc's and then descended home. Regards.

Expecting a trodden trail to Črni vrh, we head straight from Mislinja to the summit. We knew the weather wouldn't be favorable, but it turned out not favorable at all. Wind, fog on top, occasional visibility a couple meters in front of nose, for a while we even searched for the path to Grmovšek's hut, only snowshoes ahead of us... How happy we were when we hit the marked trail with ribbons . Grmovšek's hut , no idea what's up with it, it's closed, what’s happening? PD Mislinja, or those responsible, could take some time to check the direction signs, because as for times, there are many wrong data written. Nice experience with friendly locals, as for return to Mislinja we cleared a track we didn't know where it leads - and arrived exactly in Mislinja, now we know for next time this unmarked path. LP!

Hi jprim! I often go from Mislinja to Pohorje and I'm interested which times are "wrong". If I hike alone I arrive faster, but with a group sometimes we take even more than written on the sign. Times on signs are for average hiker, not the fastest nor the slowest. Nice hiking regards

On Črni vrh sign for Grmovšek hut 30 min, for Ribniška 30 min, ok... But I don't get how it's written before Grmovšek hut: Ribniška koča 30 min, Črni vrh 45 min, but yesterday on return from hut we took less than half an hour back, (ok I understand signs are for average hiker. Is there some shortcut to Ribniška that takes only 30 min, well you don't go over Črni vrh - but still - it doesn't add up if I connect both signs - the one on top and the one before hut. For average hiker it should hold that about 300m altitude in 1 hour, on path by spring signs, calculation shows still about 260m to summit so 20 min. . Something just didn't go into my head yesterday. That's how it is with me, if first time on some path, signs really interest me. That Grmovšek hut is always open I don't get either, as yesterday bartender said he can unlock rooms for me, but no one will serve. LP!

Please info on trail condition from Ruška koča at Areh to Kremžarjeva koča along SPP, if there's trodden path and how much snow now (it will melt more). I'd go on 27.4., please info so I know chances to cross Pohorje in 2 days. All info welcome. Many THANKS
