On Monday with a friend started SPP from Maribor towards Slovenj Gradec. Start from Mariborska koča pleasant, at Ruška koča already some snow, conditions worsen at Šumik where due to lots of water and snow path is soggy and very difficult. To hut on Klopnem vrh got shoes quite wet, today partly road and partly SPP to hut on Pesek. Shady areas still lots snow and ice, all soggy. At Pesek hut advised against path to Lovrenc Lakes and Ribniška koča as hard to pass due to much southern snow. Other part of Pohorje crossing waits for better conditions.

Yesterday for the first time – given that I'm from Dolenjska probably also the last time for a while - through the circular: Fram - Ruška koča pri Arehu (Pot požgane Planice) - Mariborska koča - Slap Skalca (Framski slap) - Fram (Jugova pot).

Path well marked, only from Slap Skalca to the junction on Jugova pot I had some issues. Whether I was walking on the right path but without markers or parallel, probably lower than the right path. Probably the latter since I walked longer than expected based on distances on the map.

Since I got some info that it might still be quite muddy and snowy in places, I rather took proper winter somewhat heavier boots. It turned out that for quite a few really short sections it was a good decision (mud here and there to Ruška, southern snow and mud, water Ruška-Mariborska). Well, if you avoid the path a bit probably possible with different shoes too. On the other hand I somewhat overlooked the info that these two paths are very long (cca 15 up or cca 12 km down – is that true?). Last 1.5 hours descending to Fram I already had quite ankle pains, and didn't take quite the right socks. But survived without serious consequences.

Start 8.30 – return 16.30. To Ruška I didn't hurry and took quite a lot of photos. Spent 3h45min. With other shoes, faster pace would approach those 3 hours. Break. Between huts less than an hour. Break. Since I went down from Mariborska koča to the waterfall, where took quite a lot photos again and since then (maybe) a bit lost and went easy at the end spent 2h20min.

Hard to imagine how this hike would look in real winter conditions with lots of snow, especially if you'd have to break trail yourself. If tracked path, good company and time available still ok, otherwise...

We still went, despite warnings on the forum that it's not yet passable.
On Friday 3.5. we started in MB and on Sunday morning finished in SG. Conditions ideal with proper footwear (not sneakers). Still some wet snow or where you think it's hard it easily breaks through mežikanje. Pohorje as Pohorje, wet and humid. Grmovškov dom still renovating (which no one knew before … not even at Ribniški), so we slept in sleeping bags outside on the music stage. Partizanka despite notice that it opens at 8am was also not open at 8.30, so had to wait for coffee and something sweet with friendly caretakers until Kremžarjev vrh. Good walnut štruklje I recommend also at Peski.
Criticism goes to Ruška koča, where about the path itself (and stops) across Pohorje they are not informed at all. At Osankarica on Friday late afternoon no hot food despite previous info that the hut would be operating this weekend … they told us that on Styrian weekend starts on Saturday ;o.
Otherwise few people on the path despite nice weather and nice landscape mežikanje We'll come again mežikanje

Yesterday I was among other things also at Grmovškov dom and would give criticism to the responsible (whether PZS or PD Slovenj Gradec I don't know). Hut is closed despite pzs.si saying it's open. zmeden Nearby Lukov dom they also closed already at 12:00.

It happens I think, but... here on hribi.net I notice that same problems since 2010 onwards. eek How can some organization be so unreliable is incomprehensible to me. Don't the responsible realize that not all are locals and we come from very far and also such with purpose to eat or sleep something?

I conclude that from today on for info on openness I won't use pzs.si and Gaea+ anymore, where someone probably earned well, but the thing obviously doesn't serve the purpose.

Given three-year closure of Grmovškova koča, its decaying condition, nightclub in neighborhood (10m away) and completely own working hours of Lukov dom I suggest to exclude the point from SPP, add some other that would deserve the status.

I agree with you Becar. Also taverns like Ruška koča pri Arehu and Koča na Pesku have no place in SPP. On the other hand in Julijci they cram into same KT Dom na Kredarici, Dom Planika and Koča na Doliču. zmeden

Already last year I informed PZS that the new tenant at Kopa bypassing PZS wanted to charge 25 eur for overnight stay. Before that you could sleep in hotel Luka for 9 eur since Grmovškov dom is closed in summer. Despite the notice it's still treated as alpine station

Still nothing is clear to me about Grmovškov dom.
I understand all these criticisms, since I myself also gave my opinion.
So Grmovškov dom will no longer be alpine hut?zavijanje z očmi Well, anyway now it's not open for some time already.

What connection does Pot kurirjev in vezistov have with the state at Grmovškova koča?
How will you rename SPP, since its stamp is also at Grmovškova koča?

Julius, Pot KURIRJEV in vezistov is already fine. Either you didn't get the joke, or read superficially. mežikanje SPP stamp unfortunately not in Grmovškova koča, because it's closed. If I had to rename SPP, I would call it Slovenian alpine path 3 years of closed huts without stamps.

The stamp is at Lukov dom, which has completely its own opening hours (not in accordance with the opening hours of the apparently former Grmovškov dom), so I advise you to call Lukov dom first.

Today did a 28km long section from koča na Pesku to Slovenj Gradec. From Pesek via Mašinžaga warm-up to Lovrenška Lakes. Two-day rain was felt, plenty of water on and beside the trail. Had to cross small torrents and streams, but no issues. Could do it in sneakers too. No snow anywhere except a 3x2m snow patch handy for cleaning shoesnasmeh. To Ribniška koča no issues except wet ground. From Ribniška koča to Velika and Mala Kopa less forest, wind hindered walking. Over both Kopas to Partizanski dom then to koča pod Kremžarjevim vrhom. Trail here more overgrown than before, more undulating, steep down steep up...some flat. From koča pod Kremžarjevim vrhom to Slovenj Gradec another ca 700m descent that drags at end. Anyway, great conditions except wind, markings very visible everywhere, most junctions have signs/markings...Only bit where markings vanish briefly is from Partizanski dom to Kremžarjev vrh. No problem. Nature 10/10, people great, huts super (except closed Grmovškov dom), but one thing bothered me: from Kope ski area to Kremžarjev vrh tons of motocrossers audible from afar. Won't debate if ok or not, excessive engine buzz bothered me. Plowing hiking trails with cross bikes not appropriate.
Re stamp at Grmovškov dom, get it at the pub next door. Don't know when open. Today around 11am it was. Day gorgeous, wind cooled air, Pohorje beautiful as always. Will returnnasmeh
