Along SPP from Ruška koča to Kremžarjeva koča is 14 hours walk. From Kremžarjeva koča to Slovenj Gradec another 1.5 hours. Stated for dry conditions. How long you'll need depends on fitness, but doable in two days.

Currently still a lot of snow on Pohorje, up to 1.5 meters. The entire route from Areh to Kremžarjeva koča definitely not fully trodden yet, maybe some sections. Some wet snow will surely remain at least in places by the date, so better postpone hike by a couple weeks for base to settle and dry. With average fitness the distance can easily be done in two days.
Happy trails.

On Sunday I hiked from Jakec to Ribniška koča. Trail trodden only to Black Lake, rest not. Without snowshoes mission impossible, as up to a meter of south-facing snow in places. Took me 10 hours, and had to descend to valley since Ribniška koča closed, and on Kope everything except Partizanka closed.

Fram - Ruška hut Areh - Maribor hut - Fram.

I haven't managed to go there yet, although I planned it a month ago. I got a bit scared when I heard two weeks ago that there was cca 1.5m of snow on Pohorje. Hm, and those cca 60 cm below the summit of Trdinov vrh on 4 April, when there was no snow in Novo mesto, seemed a lot.

If the weather stays like this and no rain on Saturday - which might happen - what conditions can I expect on the mentioned path on Saturday? Is the path trodden? Snow amount per sections? Mud?

Better to wait at least 1 more week?

Just jumped with Tinja to Three Kings and back. Compacted snow starts in the forest at approx. 1000 meters. Two hundred meters higher, up to half a meter of very wet snow. This applies to the sunny side, in the hollows there is more snow and it reaches a bit lower.
Similar conditions will probably be there on Saturday too, some snow will melt but at least the path from Areh to Maribor hut will still be covered with snow. Where it's bare ground, it's not too muddy, as the warm sun dries the ground quickly. I have no data on the troddenness of the mentioned path, although I assume it is already trodden.
If slightly wet shoes don't bother you and you're not only a fan of ideal conditions, go happily on the path. But as "Ružica" already said, in a couple of weeks it will definitely be nicer when Pohorje turns green.

Hello,
For the first of May, I'm planning a tour: Rogla - Lovrenška jezera - koča Pesek - Rogla.
What do you predict, will there still be snow on the path then?

From Maribor several paths lead to Pohorje. By the marked transversal that starts in Sp. Radvanj or from the lower cable car station along the ski slopes to Bolfenk. From there it's possible to continue to Razglednik (tower), Mariborska koča, further to Areh, Šumik... Today I decided to go only to Bolfenk on the old FIS track. In the lower part the path is dry, trees are already green, higher at ca. 800m remnants of snow and also ice, which can be avoided. Weather cloudy-foggy and without wind, people few. I returned to the starting point on the same path.

Hi.
Second half of the May Day holidays (Fri to Sun) we plan to go from Maribor to Slovenj Gradec over Pohorje. So I'm asking already now how much snow is left and especially what kind it is. Maybe someone has already walked part of the path these days and can write what the conditions are like. I reckon this thaw with rain will nicely melt the snow.

From home nice view on Pohorje (Črni vrh, Kope). Snow on south slopes will be gone in a couple of days. But patches can be found in shady spots, especially it can be very wet. Particularly muddy is the section around Lovrenška jezera.
Good lucknasmeh

Hi!
Can someone advise if Pohorje from SG to MB is doable in two days? Is there then some transport (bus, train) to get back to SG?
Big thanks to all.nasmeh

From SG to MB via Pohorje is cca 60 km. 2 days of moderate walking with stop and overnight is a good option. Some do this path in 1 day, but then you don't see the beauties. Bus from SG-MB runs 2x daily! One in the morning, one in the afternoon (timetable best check at http://www.koratur.si/avtobusni-prevozi/vozni-red-in-ceniki/vozni-red-slovenj-gradec.aspx

With train you can't get to SG, since since 1969 there is no track anymore, but you can go from Maribor to Dravograd by train (to Dravograd takes one hour and forty minutes), then change to bus for SG.

@schristina!
We hiked this trail last year (27th and 28th April) but in the opposite direction. We left the car at Mariborska koča and the first day hiked to Ribniška koča where we overnighted. Next day we continued on foot to SG, then by bus (around 2pm) via Dravograd (with change) to MB. From there by taxi (about 25 euros) to Mariborska koča. I think that was the fastest and cheapest option. Best regards and happy trails!

Approx 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on pace. Go via settlement Sv. Primož na Pohorju towards Vuzenica.

Well, Mariborska koča-SG or Maribor-SG is quite a nice difference if we go by Slo. main trail.
