I'm curious about the conditions on Prisank via Kopiščar path? Thanks

On Sunday I had a plan for Prisank up the ridge and down the south slopes. My dear hasn't been to Prisank yet and when she read primož's post she said stop. But curiosity didn't let me rest and after 3 days after shift I did the mentioned tour. I saw a small (5 x 5) avalanche right above the grassy slopes, which can be easily and safely bypassed, but nowhere did I step on snow. My bad premonition came true. Please don't cause panic and scare people. I'm cautious too, don't like to risk, but too much is too much. So: Prisank is completely safe on both paths regarding snow patches. If someone thinks differently right now, better stick to Šmarna gora...That's it, Uroš

Best to take pics, because a picture says 1000 and more words.

Kopiščar path still has some smaller snow patches lower down from the window, which cannot be bypassed, and they were icy on Saturday and very dangerous for slipping, so ice axe is mandatory.

Confirmed! The meeting was really pleasant , glad I met you. The fifth picture is great, we avoided such a view by changing target: a bit lower it was nicer...

Yesterday my colleague and I went to Prisojnik for the first time, and we were both thrilled with the path itself (ridge path) and the view that this wonderful mountain offers. On some sections strong wind was blowing, so extra caution was definitely not superfluous, the only downside was that the sun burned us a bit, not with great force ,...so in conclusion I can say, we'll come back up here

I was also up yesterday on the ridge and even high protection factor sun cream didn't help me.

Gotta advertise some sunscreen a bit , ..personally the cream helped me, I got burned when I didn't smear it on my legs, now we've got it

This must have been a perfect day - practically cloudless...

For the weekend I'd like to go to Prisank via Grebenska or Slovenska path. The forecast says clear or changeable. I'm wondering if it's safe to go if there are showers. So far I've been in the Alps many times in cloudy weather, but never showers.

I meant if the weather was like these days - changeable with the possibility of showers. I didn't mean to go to the mountain if there was much rain at Vršič, but if it was clear or cloudy at Vršič, but the forecast indicated possible showers.

furman, last weekend I was wandering around Prisank in exactly that weather. Under the window it started raining so I did the last part without major issues in the wet. If a shower catches you, up the ridge path at least to the window you shouldn't have problems. Further it's a bit exposed and some rocks are very smooth even dry, so caution needed, but doable. You can still turn there if the weather seems too bad. Don't know the Slovenian path but think not more exposed than the ridge (by descriptions). Wouldn't like to see Prisank in a thunderstorm so check forecast first.. Good luck and don't forget warm clothes and gloves!

@furman: If so far you haven't experienced rain despite cloudy weather, you simply had a lot of LUCK! Also: if for example you're hiking in Triglav Lakes Valley or on Komna, a shower won't bother you much. But if you're climbing soaking wet from rain on slippery rocks where you can fall off the mountain, that's one big FUCK. If lightning zaps above you too, even worse. My opinion: 1. If there are already dark clouds on Vršič in the morning, then don't go up. 2. If clear in the morning but forecast for changeable weather during the day, you'll get at least fog. Probably no thunderstorms, but such demanding paths even light drizzle makes dangerous. 3. If clear in the morning and forecast for possible rain in the afternoon, you have a good chance to complete the dangerous part of ascent and descent dry. Worsening and heat thunderstorms are usually after 3pm. If it clouds over in between and cold wind blows, turn back right away.

Aha, see you got a less pessimistic answer too Anyway, sooner or later rain will catch you in the Alps too, but I think for the first time it's not good to get it right on Prisank!

Big thanks for the information. The thing is I'm coming from Croatia, and I don't want to do the trip to Vršič and come back. If it's clear at Vršič or just a bit cloudy, I'll go up, most likely via the Slovenian route, if there are dark clouds I'll go to Slemenova Špica, or some similar tour. I also think I had a lot of luck that so far I haven't experienced rain in the Alps. To Jalovec with a friend we went under dark clouds through the škrbina and back over Kotovo sedlo, and there was no rain. Also to Triglav, and also to Kriški podi over Kriška stena we went in such weather. Well, now I'd go to Prisank alone, and that's another reason for caution.

Yesterday I took my son from Vršič via Kopiščarjeva to Prisojnik and back via Slovenska to Vršič. The path was normally passable, the descent slightly hindered only by newly fallen snow during the descent.
