Quite risky for anyone without crampons. In current snow conditions even with crampons it wouldn't be easy, in places even worse without. Good foot feel on such paths matters more here. Otherwise grand Redbull tour.

In youth one doesn't think much about one's own safety, as it was with me. Today I definitely wouldn't go to Prisank the way I did back then and just wonder how my brother and I managed in conditions similar to the current ones.

Has anyone hiked the ridge and southern path from Vršič recently? Photos look snow-free, what's it really like? Thanks.

gorski svizec.... no snow on the ridge. I went up and down the ridge, snow only at the start of the path from Vršič, namely some right on the scree and then a bit further, from where the signs are and paths split to the ridge path and Razor (at 1870 m) you won't meet it anymore. nasmeh

after a few minutes it had already changed color :)

also because of such scenes we even more gladly go to the mountains :)

SunBurned, I can only tell you that from the window down there's quite some windblown snow, how much there is is hard to tell.... ask Dejan (redbull), who was around there a couple of days ago.

From first hand on ridge path: quite a bit above the window it's ok. But when the path about half hour below summit turns to north side of ridge, we hit quite icy ground right away. I don't claim it's impassable, but I turned back right away, because no cables there anymore, and walking is above drop.
On southern path from second hand: in steep gullies still snow/ice and very tricky.

Yesterday via Kopiščarjeva through the window to the summit, to Ajdovska deklica without issues, from there increasingly more ice and some snow, torn cables in two places, below the window dangerously falling icicles. In short, not exactly smart, and especially dangerous choice.. zmeden

On Friday we made an ascent to Prisank. We climbed the ridge path. The ridge itself was in places where the path turns to the north side quite dangerous for slipping, but not impassable. Other visitors turned back before the summit, we continued and successfully summited. We descended the southern path; also there is snow in the gully, so a good dose of caution is needed. Still in the dark over Sovna glava, then before Gladki Rob via "gully" to marked path, and right past the window and via "winter crossing" to the ridge. Continuation within the "Ridge path" to the summit.

I descended the southern path. Somewhat annoying are the two crossings into the gully.

Not much snow on the ridge, but just enough so crampons don't scrape too much. In the gullies mostly moderately hard névé, on sunny slopes sometimes still crust that's slightly annoying.
