Is there still any snow on the ridge and Slovenian route? Is winter gear needed?

On Sunday 14.7 I climbed Hanzova path. The crossing over the extreme crack to the snowfield at the foot of Hudičev steber is very difficult, snow is still around 5 m. You need to climb down a few meters on the cable, make a platform on the snow with the ice axe and step over the crack. To the edge of the snowfield is 3 m at 70 deg and you need to self-belay twice on the ice axe, standing on the front points of the crampons.

The gully leading below the top of Hudičev steber is snowed in in the upper half. A bypass left on rocks is possible (quite smooth, I-II), I went right between snow and rock, which didn't work - no exit. I had to put the crampons back on and climb the snowfield (45 deg). No more snow ahead. I descended the ridge path.

Hi all,
Does any of you know if there is still some snow on Kopiščarjeva? (The last post about snow being there was 1.07 so I guess it changed a lot)? I was looking at Prisojnik from the Mojstrovka trail and there seems to be a snow patch some length below the 'window', but I don't know the exact line of Kopiščarjeva so I couldn't tell if it actually crosses that patch. Thank you for your help nasmeh

Today to Prisank via Grebenska path and descent via Slovenska.
Both paths good, nicely marked, even new (Slovenska) so praise to PD. No snow on either path anymore, as Branee already wrote.
View down through Okno doesn't show snow on Kopiščarjeva, but from the road you see there's still some snow patches in the lower part.

P.S.: Although usually starting quite high on Prisojnik (Vršič, Erjavčeva koča), which attracts various "selfie hunters", the mountain is still mighty and deserves respect and appropriate approach.
Can't even imagine in dreams heading to Prisojnik in sneakers and yogurt in a bag...

Thanks dRM, based on the photo we decided it's worth giving a try, and now I can return with the update:

Kopiscarjeva is completely snow free. Two patches from the photo are not near the trail. There is one patch just near the trail but the ferrata rope leads just into the gap between snow and the rock, so there is no need to step on the snow at all.

If I'm not mistaken, though, there seemed to be a snow patch on the linking traverse path Kopiscarjeva - Hanzova.

The Kopiščarjeva path is perfectly normally passable. There is still snow under the window, but the path goes past it. Over the weekend (despite direct proximity of Vršič) surprisingly few visits.

Late afternoon up the gully and further towards the window to the top of Prisank. Met the last ones up to and above the window, then alone all the time. A bit windy, fog, descended back along the ridge.

Yesterday on Hanzova. That's how the snowfield looks. Unfortunately some turned back because they didn't have crampons. It wasn't safe to go across just with an ice axe. Otherwise, the sign at the start of the path clearly says you need winter gear. At the top of Prisank there were really many hikers yesterday. Weather was nice. Just cold in the morning. About 8 degrees when I started walking. Third time on this path. Just yesterday I went alone. The whole way two foreigners were walking behind or in front of me, one quite older. And we were careful not to trigger any stones. There's a lot of scree on the path. Fitness-wise demanding tour. Lots of scrambling. Poles go into the backpack early. I descended via the Slovenian. At Vršič just chaos. Police came to manage traffic. I still had to walk to the Koča na Gozdu where I had my vehicle.

We too climbed Prisojnik on 15.8., but via the Slovenian path. We started, of course, very early and in solitude and cold reached the top in two and a half hours without trouble. Well, later there were of course more and more people. At Vršič real chaos of standing cars, campers and buses awaited us. After barely half an hour of waiting it finally cleared up...

My better half and I ran a trail of 38 km and 1600 vm on Thursday, so we climbed Prisojnik from Vršič yesterday. Despite it being Sunday, we got parking by the road at half past nine without major issues nasmeh

. In nice sunny weather we went via Kopiščarjeva path, where we quickly ran into climbers of unknown nationality, and to the window we and all who overtook us surely lost one hour. jezen

The group was quite large, cca 15-20 people, and to our great joy they moved aside a bit below the window. Further along the ridge no problems. On the top quite a substantial group of people. Back to Vršič we descended via the Slovenian path and for the icing on the cake also went to Slemenove špice. For dessert we treated ourselves to a jump in Planica to the top of the big one via stairs. velik nasmeh

On the way home we enjoyed driving against the column towards Karavanke.

Always a challenge to catch in the lens the play of nature - sun shining through the Front Prisojnik window. Today, Sunday, it could be observed in wonderful sunny and clear weather. Freshly fallen snow was additional backdrop.

The sun is not yet peeking through the window.

At the window there is only mist illuminated by the sun.

On Saturday, 30/11/2019 my colleague and I headed towards Prisojnik. On the S side we traversed a slab where it slipped a bit too. Snow was very hard - frozen. Up the gully conditions were super, it really held (also on descent). Further on the path to the window there was sun, so traversing to the window was quite soft (10cm southern snow - top layer, luckily didn't break through), small steps formed, so we used gear quite well.

At the window my colleague and I decided to rather turn back so no surprises on return. Two "lads" decided to continue and we heard screams of delight when they reached the ridge. Hope they made it.

Descent to the gully marked by hammering ice axes on crampons. Then in reverse down the gully where it was pleasantly cold and traversing still hard snow on S side to Vršič. At Vršič parking circus nasmeh
