Has maybe someone been recently, meaning these days, to Prisank via south path. Especially interested in snow condition. Thanks and nice mountain greeting. This extended weekend will be awesome

Hi! On the net I found a list of paths to Prisank. Among others mentions path from Vršič past Front Window (4hrs, easy ferrata)-but can't find description of that path anywhere. Can someone help? Thanks!

If it's a ferrata, it's immediately "very difficult marked path". "Ridge path", also described on the list of mountains, goes past Front Window and has protections and cables on some sections. Just from memory, there are very few cables to speak of it as a ferrata. But it's still a very difficult path. lp

Ferratas are only in Italy.

Aha! Does only Kopiščarjeva lead through the window? Is a via ferrata kit necessary for that path or can they go without it too?

Hribček: Look at the pics and read the path description on the mountain list a bit. Later you will have quite a few questions, so check the path description and pics a couple more times. Answers will come by themselves. If you have already hiked mountains, then you know that Prisojnik (Prisank) is a demanding tour. Choose an approach suitable to your level. None is easy......

I'm interested if anyone has hiked on the Kopiščar path in the last few days, what are the conditions (snowy). Thanks, l.p.

Hribček: If you don't have high-mountain experience, then definitely the Kopiščarjeva path is not suitable for you. It is quite lively and in places quite exposed path, although it is well secured with cables and pegs, definitely mandatory equipment is a helmet and via ferrata set, gloves don't hurt either. The ridge path from the window onwards is for someone who is not at home in this world quite windy, and I don't recommend it for the first time, while the southern path is not demanding. Last year I led a group of 10 hikers along the ridge path, who have quite some experience, they have even been to Triglav, but they had a rather bad feeling on the ridge itself, so for now start with easier paths and then gradually increase them. Best regards.

On Sunday I went up the Kopiščarjeva with my wife. Practically no snow, only right below the window part of the cable is broken, but no problem for passage. Definitely I join "muša" regarding protections and helmet. Much easier is the Slovenska pot, but caution is needed here too (about 20 m long snowfield on the path, falling rocks) and of course helmet on the head. Good luck!

Thanks Muša for your reply. Behind me I have Bambergova to Triglav, Škrlatica, Kopinškova to Ojstrica, Mrzla gora, Frischaufova to Grintovec, but I walked without self-belay set (helmet always + gloves). I don't have the set and don't know how to use it either. That's why I asked if it would be possible on the mentioned path without it or is it better to get one and learn to handle it? LPP

Of course it goes without, but you'd have to be much more careful. I don't recommend.

Whoever is skilled on secured paths and has some experience goes on such paths even without self-belay set, I personally prefer to put it on just in case (I had it on Cjajnik too, but didn't use it) in case of falling rocks, altitude sickness hits, need to help someone else,... and in such cases you can only secure yourself if you have it, if not, it's not possible. Just for example, on some exposed spot a stone hits your shoulder or arm, you can't go on, you feel sick,... in that case you'll self-belay until help arrives.

Today, 9.7, I went up the ridge path to the summit and down the south -SLO- back. On the path all OK. Snow only remnants, super weather, no people.

Today with my colleague up Kopiščarjeva path. Wonderful ascent, no crowds except one who overtook us when we came through the window. On the ridge path already quite a few hikers. We returned via the Slovenska path, where we met quite a few. Wonderful day.

Many have already gone to Prisojnik this year... unfortunates. I warmly advise everyone planning to go up Hanzova to have crampons and ice axe (essential!) on the path; there is quite a steep snowfield where you really need this gear. The other snowfield is more gentle, there it's OK without. Under Hudičev steber another snowfield quite steep, max caution there. Otherwise all guidebooks strongly advise against ascent before 15 July precisely because of snowfields and risk of slipping. Lpp

For the start of a multi-day "break" we set off on Thursday 15 July towards Prisojnik via ridge path. Just before the path fork we saw two chamois. Path gets harder at the window. On the ridge great views to Mojstrovke and Kranjska Gora, at summit started clouding. Quite a few people despite midweek. Returned via Slovenska path, which at beginning is not very well marked.

Tuesday 19.07.010 I used for ascent via Hanzova to Prisojnik. Path interesting, varied, exposed, crumbly, looong. Mandatory gear or warmly recommend helmet, ice axe and crampons. At summit crowd, poor views as Prisojnik summit in cloud and Razor showed occasionally. Back via ridge path. It was hot and long day...

I also got "pofočkana" yesterday on top of Prisojnik (up the ridge path and down Slovenski dol). In my opinion the ridge path could have a few more pegs or cables, although the path is well protected. Fresh snow patches only a sample or for "mavžat":- ) Otherwise weather wonderful - just what you can wish for in the mountains, phenomenal views, hikers accordingly plenty :-)

Muša you wrote: "so for now start with easier paths, then step them up. Nice regards. " Which paths do you recommend so I get a bit used to heights and climbing. Fitness and the rest no problem!
