After many years I participated yesterday again in the memorial night hike across Ratitovec to Dražgoše. I notice that even at this event it's no longer like it used to be. People have gotten soft, since the 'real' start is no longer in Železniki, but in Prtovč, where a bus takes us for 5€. Due to too little snow the path is nasty, as the ground is frozen solid. On the hilltop the snow is icy too, over Kosmati vrh where the path led us crampons were mandatory. It was cold, about minus 14 degrees, luckily we were spared the wind. Almost the whole night we were accompanied by a well-shining Moon.

A little after one hour, on the first short break.

From two to half past three in the hut on beer, flancati and tea, only me was tempted by slight dozing.

The company that night, cold, ice and prolonged walking cannot affect.

Among tall spruces we warmed up at three camp fires.

Ratitovec, left above the saddle bel Porezen.

Tone, despite relative comfort before and during the hike this is a hike for the iron ones in fitness and morale. Equipment and footwear is also top-notch.
Hard to imagine how it was during that battle. Poor clothing, footwear, weapons, harsh winter and more was the reality during the real battle. nasmeh

Hi Tobe, first congrats for the hiked path. Wondering if from Ratitovec to Dražgoška gora there's a marked path?

No problem. The path from Ratitovec is nicely marked. First descend to Vratca 1511, then across planina Klom to Jesenovca. We went from Vratc (for attractiveness) over Kosmati vrh. From Jesenovca past Ledin to Rastoke, where we cross the road from Rudna. Here we left the marked path and took a well-maintained path to Vratni rob 1369. Here the fun ends, no path, no markers, just follow the ridge of Dražgoška gora southeast. Very nasty part. Luckily we did it daytime, frozen ground, almost no snow, no real trail. Guides marked the direction with ribbons before, and if you're a bit Vinetuja nasmeh

, you'll reach the road to Dražgoše. Or find my track on Strava and if you know how, it'll make the path much easier. Good luck!

Wouldn't wanna be in their skin. Especially today's youth wouldn't survive, so mandatory few months of military service to toughen physically and mentally, away from all comfort and take the phone away.

"microspikes" (chains) recommended, won't need ice axe.

Yesterday's snapshots from nice circular path past Krek hut on Ratitovec to Gladki vrh. Up Povdev, descent Vratca and Razor to start. On Razor path microspikes very handy.

A trip to Ratitovec is never bad, always different. Up the left, down the right. Today few visitors, which isn't bad nasmeh

Today after two years up again. Classic loop from Prtovč. Path bp, unfortunately summit in cloud (cap) and gusts of wind. But didn't bother dozens of hikers and mountain runners. Flancat, as always, phenomenal! velik nasmeh

Team well-oiled, good mood, prices reasonable.

Today nice tour on Ratitovec from starting point Jesenovec. From start to Kosmati vrh, descent to Vratce and steep path to Gladki vrh and to Krekova koča on Ratitovec for cold beer. After refreshment to Altemaver and Kremant. Back over planina Klom to start. Nice and hot tour.

To avoid bad mood on Sunday head to Ratitovec from lower starting points or pick another day for ascent, as part of road to Prtovč will be closed. Of course plan tour within closure, be at start before half past 8, down to valley after half past 5 pm mežikanje

Ratitovec offers the vibe of quite a mountain tour, though it is not a real mountain. But satisfaction always at a high level!
Yesterday from Torka via hunter's path under Pajl climbing area and under Altemaver summit, which we later climbed nasmeh

A nice path, but quite steep in many places

Prominent rock face above the path, left towards the climbing area, right towards the hut.
