I don't know if we were on the same mountain today, from 11:00 onwards cloudy, no sun until the end of the day. Crampons mandatory. Everyone was slipping down and hard to stop, so it was already dangerous for those going up. And I don't know why it's so so so hard to leash dogs on the trail. Ours was pulling because of that and on such a trail it's dangerous. People are really rude about it. There can be whatever sign, they have dogs unleashed. Mine almost pulled me over the edge because an unleashed dog was jumping around him, and I had crampons on!

, regarding crampons, everyone should take them if they plan to use them, it's their decision.

Yesterday's Ratitovec from Prtovč. Up via Poden, down via Razor. Small crampons come in handy on icy sections of the trail. Windy at the top, but still a great day nasmeh

Yesterday in quite mixed conditions from Torke to Ratitovec, return under the Altemaver walls towards Zabrd and back to the car.

Already from the parking lot we looked a bit worried at the fog-shrouded walls of Ratitovec, but at times caught glimpses of snow-dusted rocks towards the top, so there was a chance of nice weather up there. Very quickly we found ourselves in a band of fog and wetness, but just as quickly in breaking sun rays and really beautiful views started opening up. Spring is just awakening at this altitude, there was some new and also some old snow. The wind pulled stronger towards the top, so the benches in front of the hut remained empty. But those right by the wall provided shelter, even for smoking.
Our return path was quite tough, almost lost in some places, completely flattened under wet leaves which were very slippery in these conditions, so considerable caution was needed along the entire path. Probably not much walked this year, definitely more recommended for ascent than descent.

@megalodon - yesterday (Wednesday) I went to Planina Klom from Ledine and no special gear needed up to here. Well, gaiters I still recommend, if that counts as "gear".

I'd just warn about two things:

a) in Rudno (Železniki) there's a sign for complete road closure and traffic ban. I drove past anyway with the idea to go as far as possible, and in the end got almost to Ledine fine. About 500m before there's a small fallen spruce across the road, but that's just a couple extra minutes walk on flat. If you want, it could be removed too. The road Rudno-B.Bistrica is noticeably damaged in one place, there was still some more snow in two places and spruces by the edge that obviously fell on the road, but they've been removed, but in the end with my low car on summer tires it went without issues. Don't know about from the Bohinj side.

b) from Ledine to Klom you can go from two sides. The eastern one is practically dry, only the last part to the pasture has some short snow sections, but nothing special. The western path has a bit more snow (say 10-30 cm), which is completely soft and annoying to walk on. Not that it presents any special problem, but it mashes underfoot and is completely wet. So purely for comfort I recommend the eastern path (up and down). Since yesterday it was 8 degrees in the shade on the pasture, probably very soon the path will be equally spring-like in both directions.

In lower areas it is already fully spring-like.

On the western path there is a bit more snow. There is little of it, but it is completely soft and wet.

@Loerst really big thanks for the detailed, especially useful answer. Repeating a bit longer tour from two years ago, and after 30km walking you're not happiest to turn back because you don't "lug" winter gear. mežikanje

Now you can have a smoke up there even on weekdays, so worth going up. Can rest a bit on benches in front of hut too, no crowd, space available.
No need to worry about paying parking if no phone fuss or forgot it home nasmeh

On this day the weather forecast was very uncertain, so Ratitovec was a quite good choice. A bit of fog at the hut, but it cleared a bit every now and then so it was really nice. The important thing is that there was no wind velik nasmeh

. Start at Prtovč and right through Razor to Krekova hut for great flancat. After refreshment then on to Altemaver and back to the hut and to Gladki vrh, then through Poden back down to Prtovč. Beautiful circular path full of flowers.

Today we Četrkovci - retired group PD Škofja Loka (normally go on Thursdays - due to bad weather forecast we went today - Wednesday) went to our home area - conquered Ratitovec. Every year one peak in our area. We went past Glažarca hut, over planina Pečane to the summit.

The driver brought us to the starting point.

Ratitovec
Today walked nice path on Ratitovec slopes. Start in nice village -Prtovč. Up (through Po(v)den). At hut short rest and continue to Altemaver and on to Kremant. After short rest, same path back to Krekova hut on Ratitovec. From hut short climb to Gladki vrh and back to hut for tasty jota and flancate. After good refreshment back on path through Razor to starting point. Nice path with wonderful views.

On Saturday we visited the home mountain of our hiker Zdenka, Ratitovec. This time from Rava, we joined the path through Povden. From foggy Ljubljana into an autumn fairytale on Ratitovec. Views great, but strong wind at the hut. We also expected wind on the ridge, but it was calm. We really enjoyed the wonderful colors. Those were motifs for I. Grohar.
We descended to Zgornje Danje and on to Torka, where we passed the Gartner farm, my childhood friend. Flancati at the hut on Ratitovec of course the best. Bravo Lojze and team. Total 750m ascent and 12 km. Ratitovec is really beautiful in all seasons, this time an autumn jewel.

Today I took my daughter up to the famous flancati... and they really are top! The ladies who prepare them, despite the years, full of energy, pep! Hats off nasmeh

People up there like on a pilgrimage, down in Prtovč cars for export zadrega

Path without special features, all well marked. Sun warming, on the summit warm wind blowing. But no force.

Daughter enjoyed most on the section with protections and among huge rock outcrops in the upper part of the path, which she thinks are sleeping Ajde velik nasmeh

I went up and down, met lots of them, at the top it was windy at times, so I went lower along the ridge my own way. Snow is powdery and one/two steps forward and a bit back.
