Given that on our highest peak there are only traces of snow patches in gullies and ledges, then Razor is no problem. Weather will be stable and just right for mountaineering until Friday or longer.

Yesterday with friend after plan change over Dolgi hrbet-K.S.A., due to clouds rather headed to somewhat more promising Julijce. Parked at Vršič, where they were already diligently collecting parking fees. We parked a bit lower, as for a decade with contributions they haven't fixed the parking lot at the top as they promised then. Cashier says he hears the same from us all season long. Started late at 8am, looking for lower path to Gladki rob which we missed while chatting. Ahead to Škrbina goes quite fast, where with peaches, muesli bars and homemade apple strudel we treat our souls a bit. Ahead we cross small snowfield and through system of ledges climb to scree under Sedlo Planja. Another good half hour and we stand on panoramic Razor. Yes, our mountains, although somewhat lower, can stand shoulder to shoulder with other parks of European Alps. Up top fog covered view to peaks, but on the path itself there was much beauty to see, if one has eyes in the right place. Late afternoon we return to Vršič, where on the way we met some Croats, Austrians, Swedes, Slovaks. No excessive crowds up there yesterday though. Great tour for those who don't complain about all-day hike in mountains. Lp!.

Yesterday start in Vrata, over Sovatna to Kriške pode. Short break, then to Razor, which is on the way, really one big ruin. Overnight at Pogačnik, which was so full that people slept everywhere. Young staff very friendly! Tomorrow again to Škrlatica, this time to the top!

Nice sunny morning lured me to the mountains again today. Driving towards Trenta I watch the emerald mountain beauty, which after abundant night rain today is far from that. I drive to the road hut, where I park, then go up the trail towards Mlinarica. Solitary surroundings and the wild roar of waters grinding through Mlinarica, which can be heard far up, are a real balm for the soul. Definitely much better than engine racket over Vršič. West face of Razor offers nice natural passages and soon I'm at the saddle. A quick hop and I'm on Razor. Descent to Pogačnikov dom follows, where I'm the only visitor that day. Staff just preparing lunch, so I don't bother them and quietly drink a beer, then head to Zadnjica. On the way rain caught me, but what can a few drops do if you have a raincoat. At Vinkot in Zadnjica I must first eat excellent mushroom soup, then he drives me up to the road hut and nice loop is closed.

Hi, does anyone know if there's still any snow on the Vršič-Razor route? Thanks for the reply and happy trails.

Sano, yesterday I went from Vršič to Razor. Before entering the wall there are still some snow patches - you can bypass all on the lower side. In the upper part, just before Planja saddle there's another snow patch, need to cross a few meters. Snow isn't too hard, so ok without crampons. Elsewhere the path is bare. Descended to Trenta, then bus back to Vršič (runs daily from Trenta at 4 and 6 pm).

Matic4, just one more - is that snow patch before the saddle steep? Thanks for the detailed reply otherwise.

Sano, snow patch before saddle not very steep, nor flat. If not skilled at crossing snow patches, take ice axe.

We met just below the Razor summit! I was almost sure it was you, but I didn't bother you. I took the variant Krnica - Kriška stena - Bovška vratca - Križ - Pogačnikov dom - Razor - Planja - Vršič lower path - car at 3rd Vršič bend. My report follows, of course.

Today I also made it to Razor and Planja. Started in Vratih, had coffee at Pogačnikov dom and continued. I liked the path, not too demanding, nor too crumbly as I had read previously, because of which my sister also chickened out and didn't reach the summits... On the return another break at the hut, which they were closing, treated us to a new coffee and added that they'll come back for the weekend... So, if anyone plans or wants to overnight over the weekend, it will be possible.. Thanks to the staff again, you are truly unique... young gentlemen..

Though it's already two days since the ascent to Planja and Razor, the weather is still as gorgeous as if going today. Started at the third bend of the road to Vršič, past the Krnica hut still in pitch darkness. When I reach Kriška stena, the sun greets me. Descent to Pogačnikov dom, then ascent over scree first to Planja and finally to Razor. Met friendly Austrian Michael, with whom we engaged in conversation and after 1.5 hours descended to the saddle, he left to Pogačnikov dom and Zadnjica, I right towards Mlinarica and under Prisankom to Vršič. Wonderful views, met many ibex and chamois on the path.. Good that Kriška stena spiced the ascent path, otherwise just gravel, scree, rubble..

They shouldn't collect parking before 5:00 actually because the ticket says from 5:00 onwards... Don't worry, they charged me too last time at 4:50 Whatever, let them, there are still plenty of other starting points and ways. Nice tour and cheers!
