Today Janez, Peter and I set off from Javorja to Rodica. Snow started halfway to planina Suha, from there onwards the snow was quite good, so it didn't sink too much and we progressed nicely. With altitude the snow got harder and thus less trail-breaking. On key ascent sections tracks and good steps are made, so no problem. From Lepa Suha onwards, past Mala Rodica and towards the summit, pure poetry and of course ski paradise for touring skiers. At the top calm, no wind, views all around and very nice descent to the valley. LP Andrej

Stolar, hi! I don't know about snow, but given the weather and the fact that in the high mountains snow clears like crazy, I think there will be no problem! Macadam road in good condition, we drove with Punto and no issue. Enjoy! LP Andrej

The path is loooong.!!!!!!!!! And there is no water anywhere, except at Črna Prst. But it has nice views and no major dangers if dry otherwise on grassy parts, there is considerable risk of slipping..

I was on Friday on this route from Boh. Bistrica to Crna prst, Rodica, Vogel and planina Razor. Wonderful path, but very long and water only at Crna prst. Very few signs on path, marks and rock writings faded and illegible. Other hikers pointed out the problem in the evening at the hut. Bad advertising for foreigners, many of whom were there that day in the area.

Yesterday we used nice weather and headed to Rodica. Started at Ski hotel. Though sun shining, cold north wind blew now and then. Since not too hot, walking very relaxing. Little below summit met elderly gentleman (local), who kindly described nearby peaks and paths. At top just when no wind, sun warmed us nicely. Warm too on return where met more hikers. Note: summit book completely full, couldn't even on covers. Brane and Nives

Yesterday from Ruta we ascended to Rodica. Forest road to Grantarski gozd in good condition, but last part very steep. Path easy suitable for kids too (good 2h walk), no snow.

Today we were on Rodica (Javorje-Suha-Rodica). Snow appeared right above the upper forest line = about 3/4 of the path is snowy. The path was trodden and snow good. About the weather I won't say much, it was cold but sooooooo sunny!

"Ob letu osorej..." After a well-deserved vacation in the lowlands, today's tour to Rodica proved a very good idea. Weather OK, except a bit stronger breeze below the summit. Road from Laški Rovt drivable almost to the parking (about 100m lower), then onto snow. Path well visible, steps for hikers made, next to it track for skiers. Conditions on the path good also for hikers, at least in the morning nothing sank, so progress to the top quite fast. Skiing in the upper part where hard was super, a few meters lower snow softer and heavier, but Rodica thrilled us again. Enjoyed Janez, Peter and I. LP Andrej

Already yesterday "my one" and I decided to go today to see a bit of Bohinj end.
We drove to Javor, then on foot across planina Suha to sedlo Suha. From saddle left towards Rodica. Summit just caught in good weather, as fog soon came from south.
Then towards Vogel, but only to top of Šij, as Vogel summit meanwhile put on foggy hat too.
Nice, scenic and not too strenuous trip.

Road to parking in Grantarski gozd drivable for all vehicles, just a few snow patches may force you to leave car 1km before end. Slope completely dry, only along path past shelter to junction with mulatier thin snow crust, from here on compacted thicker snow cover over whole area but didn't break through so nice walking. Crampons useful but not necessary, even more so towards top. At top besides us and another pair of hikers count dozen skiers; how not at such conditions. View all around unobstructed, with binoculars clearly see large group around Kredarca, small group on Krn and Porezen. May temperature keeps us almost hour on top, so return (11.30) already with sinking in several places.

Yesterday on Rodica from Grantarski gozd. Now ramp across road so path extended by ca. 20 min. On path met GADA and SLEPCA. No snow anywhere on path. Also none on top and whole path from Črna prst to Vogel looks dry. Except some wind on top, had nice and fairly scenic weather.

Whole path from Črna prst to Vogel by no means dry. On northern slopes still steep snowfields, one similar on seventh picture at Črna prst report: http://www.hribi.net/trenutnerazmere.asp?slo=1&gorovjeid=1&id=1060 (author Ajda, 12.5.2011)
So caution. Don't let friendly dry southern slopes mislead you.
And picture 8 is view towards Vogel, not Črna prst.
