Postpone to tomorrow only things that can remain unfinished - if you die. PICASSO wrote it. Yesterday's trip to Rodica from planina Podkuk to Rutarski gozd. To Rodica. Known there in the snow this March. The intention was to descend the former smugglers' path. Today it's almost no longer visible. And Renato, who went to scout this trip a week ago, found the hunting path then. But yesterday we searched for it in vain. And there was no other choice but to push through the brushwood, which didn't want to end. That we smelled of resin - the brushwood didn't mind. Just that we safely reached the little path, which we then found. After off-trail in the forest found the path we took in the morning. Then over Konjsko brdo to planina na Prodih. This path isn't short either. We walked 26 km and made 1700 elevation gain. Water flows along the path. Yesterday towards the summit we had shade. The sun hid. On descent it tried to warm as much as possible. We met path markers on this path who removed all trees that fell on the path. I don't know how much it's walked, because we didn't meet anyone except the path markers.

Last week my friend and I set off from Petrov Brdo to Rodica and then descended the same path as you to planina Podkuk. It is really heavily overgrown, but there are visible signs of maintenance (cut brush). Bigger problem was finding the path in the forest to E7. Occasionally blue arrows on beeches visible, showing direction, but path more or less gone. The mulatiera is great though. We found the path because it's marked on the map and we preferred it over the path from Rodica to Kneške Ravne.

We too followed some barely visible blazes in the forest. But descent is annoying because steep and you sigh in relief when you reach the lower path. To mulatiera. Now entire path cleared. Tolmin folks really diligent. They have maintained paths. The marked ones.

Yesterday 23.6.2021, I went again from Petrov Brdo all the way to Žabiški Kuk. The path to Rodica is snow-free except for the snowfield below Matajurski vrh. On the path, it is necessary to cross three small snowfields, as visible from the photo. All of it can be bypassed via Matajurski vrh and descent along the ridge (towards Rodica) back to the path. The ridge is not technically demanding, but exposed in places, so caution is needed.

From Rodica towards Šija, just before the exit to the Šija ridge, there are also three small snowfields, which can be bypassed without issues. Snow is then only right below the exit to the Vogel ridge, which cannot be bypassed and requires caution.

On Wednesday, 30.6.2021, to Rodica from the Bohinj side. The path fully dry, some minor snow still in hollows by the path. By car on gravel road branching off just after Laški Rovt. After 4.5 km parked and followed marked path. Planina Suha deserted. Huge amount of flowers along the path. To the summit via the snowy variant Za Ulcam - the path temporarily lost, but direction clear. Clouds passing over the sky, on the ridge properly windy and temporarily fully calmed for a while. From the summit first short time along the ridge, then marked path through the valley V Plazičih back to Planina Suha. Wonderful views to the mountains all around, to Bohinj Lake. Very few visitors. Rodica is always nice. nasmeh

Already returning - wind was blowing and gloves came in handy

One of the larger snow patches below the summit in a deep cirque. The path bypasses it.

The view still stretches far back towards the summit.

Today to Rodica from village Rut in Tolmin area. Calm in valley, but on top strong cold wind disturbed the idyll. Good views, except mists around Očak.

Good conditions but hard all the way. Up within the marked path, down the gully. Road from Rut normally drivable.

25.01.2022. Peaceful silence was yesterday. No one anywhere. We went from Rutarski gozd like Matej a few days ago. In the morning, which was not even that cold. We used crampons right when the snow started. Below the summit one part was icy. Also dry in between. Mixed conditions when there is less snow. At the sign below the summit cold wind was blowing from the Gorenjska side. Views really nice. Down in the forest morning rime on trees. Mists in the valley. Warm on descent. Snow softened in the sun. We expected definitely more snow in January. But nature already knows what is right and what not.

Known path. We've already walked it in the snow.

Path from Ribčev Laz over Suha without peculiarities. Today on summit quite some visitors but nice sunny day and for a change without wind. nasmeh

Hello!

Is there on the route: Črna prst - Rodica - Vogel - Vrh nad Škrbino - Mahavšček - Lanževica - Travnikova dolina any drinking water source, except bottles in huts? I can go down a bit off peaks from path, but not more than 40 min either direction.

On map marked one spring near Travnikova dolina(Planina za Skalo), how it is in practice I don't know.

Spring is between Planina za Črnim vrhom and Planina za skalo (usually at least drips), second right above secured part at start of Travnikova dolina. This one dries up in drought.

When I went this route, under Rodica where planina Suha is at around 1400 m I found a water source. Where the 3 huts are, there was nothing. It was a bit higher, where there is a hidden bivouac and a reservoir. There it was slightly dripping, so end of June around 1.5 liters/30 minutes. I used disinfection tablets, because otherwise I don't know if it would be drinkable from that reservoir.

At the start of Travniška dolina it was slightly dripping. There end of June some 40 min for 2 liters of water.

This time from Ruta up with PD Bovec. Since there was talk also of off-trail, such an invitation of course can't be refused nasmeh

Shorter off-trail part, which is not fully pathless but still a not too hard to follow track, is meant over Ovča suha. Nice little ridge that descends from Suha saddle to the lower marked path. The latter is also quite scenic.

Road drivable to the starting point and there snow also starts. Not much new snow, crampons put on under the ridge. Footprints from one hiker, met no one.
