Sabotin

I thought it was forbidden and I realize it's not a good idea. So there's nothing left but to forget the northern path and use variants on the southern side.

So we have nothing left but to keep our fingers crossed that they fix the damaged cycling path as soon as possible.

Does anyone know how the Northern Path to Sabotin is? Is the cycling path towards Plave open?

The cycling path is cleared and normally passable, the northern path to Sabotin without issues.

Well, some of you enjoyed snowy slopes, we two on Sunday on rainy Sabotin. It wasn't that bad, just not good that I slipped nicely on slippery rocks and fell off the path once. But since I had a rescuer with me, it was okaynasmeh.
So, up the northern path, down the southern, all first time for me. Yes, Sabotin still excited me so much that I'd like to see it in good weather too, so we'll have to return for the views. Soon.
Maybe it's necessary to get to know both sides of the hillnasmeh.

Sabotin - 3.3.... To Solkan by train, then along the cycle path to the junction for the northern path. Snowdrops and violets are blooming at the start of the path. Views of the misty valleys, midday light. The hut is closed, not many visitors during the week. The ridge is pleasant, but it ends too quickly. We returned via the traverse to the morning path. Only at the beginning of the descent is the path gravelly, then the step is pleasant. Nice ramble, but it was very cold in the morning, snow crocuses are not yet blooming at the station.nasmeh

I'm interested if the path runs entirely on Slovenian territory, so there are no problems in these times. LP

Between summit and church ruins runs a path along the ridge, actually there are two trails. The one left of the border stones is ours, the right one on the Italian side. Nobody worries about which side you walk on nasmeh

Several times descended past It guard post in Šentmaver and then along Soča up to Solkan. Never met anyone in uniform. Here really no need to worry about border line.

On the last day of 2021 we hiked a nice circular path on Sabotin. Up the northern path, down the southern. After a short consultation, also to Sveta gora and Frančiškov hrib.
GOOD LUCK in 2022.

A nice group of hikers gathered, over 20. From Ljubljana by train to Jesenice, via Baška grapa to Solkan. The ride itself is interesting. Ascent on the northern side, many first time, some found the ascent quite steep. Last part through caverns and already at the hut. Sunny, quite windy. Saturday morning one of the colder ones this year, -17 on Kredarica, Primorska still warmer. Larger part of the group continued the path another hour along the ridge towards Vrhovlje or Korada, but we turned back to the hut, since we were also returning by train....
At the hut good service, gnocchi with goulash and other goodies. Host friendly, but interesting that PZS doesn't fix the phone number... but the persistent find everything. Views towards Sveta gora, Julijci, Goriška Brda, Golaki, Čavn, Trstelj, Cerje....Nova Gorica. Sunset as Suzana sometimes described, unfortunately not seen, since the train doesn't wait.
We returned via the southern path with a view of Nova Gorica.
Path dry, well marked, but need to watch your feet, caution is not superfluous. With some addition, 800 m elevation gain and 12 km. For the full Stanič hike from Solkan to Kanal would need about 8 hours and own transport. This year the hike is planned for May 7, somewhat later than usual...

Someone lost car keys (Citroën) at the St. Valentine chapel. We brought them to the top to the box where the logbook is.
