Now is the time to explore Kras. We walked from Kobdilj village to Štanjel.

Many houses in the village Kobdilj have something on their facade.

Above the village is the church of St. Gregory.

Church of St. Daniel in Štanjel - the peculiarity of the church is the concrete bell tower.

On the way back, also a view of Sežana - church of St. Martin.

If possible, we view the interior of the church. This is the main altar.

From the hike to Fajti vrh near Cerje.

Actually on the path to Fajti vrh or on the descent to Kostanjevica na Krasu we encounter nothing sacral.

This is the church of St. Martin in Kostanjevica na Krasu photographed from a slightly different angle than the previous path.

This cross at Borojević's throne seemed interesting to me too. I think it is Orthodox. At least such ones we encountered in Romania and Bulgaria.

From the hike to the hut on Pikovo.

Also on this one there are nice paintings on all four sides.

Just before the valley we stumble upon yet another chapel.

Today I'll show you all the sacred objects - these are crosses on the peaks of the Sarntal Alps, which are little known at least to us Slovenes and rarely visited. The Sarntal Alps surround the Stubai, Ötztal, Zillertal Alps, Orter group and lastly the Dolomites. I did a multi-day tour with PD Rašica Ljubljana from 20.-23.08 2020. The leader was Voluhar named here on this forum, who will later give his report there. I'll follow it, just so I can check with him if my statements are correct.

At Penzer Joch pass (2211 m) at the Alprose inn.

Cross on the Matterhorn of the Sarntal Alps - on Sarner Wesshorn - 2705m - goal of the first day.

At the beginning of the path on the second day of the seven-hour traverse to Marburh Hutte, shortly after the Alprose inn.

I'm not quite sure which peak this was. - I think it was Tagewaldhorn. - 2708m. If wrong, I'll correct it.

Another peak on the way to the hut with a cross.

Third day - cross on the top of Jakobspitz mountain - 2752m - on the traverse of the mountain range to the end of Durnholz.

Church in the village - to whom it is dedicated I still need to research.

Fourth day - on the way the highest peak of the Sarntal Alps - Hirzer - 2781m.

On the ridge traverse, another cross - don't know the peak's name.

Before the descent to the upper cable car station Klammeben - at 1900m altitude. The cable car goes up from the village Saltaus.

The chapel is a bit larger...they are "scattered" around Snežnik forests - in the picture St. Gabriel, and Mary of the Snow on the path to Mali Snežnik, Mother of God or locally Materdei on the road 1km before Sviščaki, and St. Damian and Cosmas under Planinec, St. Gašper under Gašperjev hrib, St. Maver under Mavrov vrh, and if I'm not mistaken St. Just at the beginning of Lenčajeva road etc...

I don't know what these dates on the cross mean.

Last Wednesday we visited Sladka gora. It is a village near Rogaška Slatina hidden amid hills, where vineyards surround it on all sides. Next week the harvest of early varieties begins. Here in the settlement itself on a small hill behind an oval wall we will spot a large church with playful towers and a bent roof. This is the church of the Miraculous Mother of God. The original church of St. Margaret from the 14th century was demolished and in 1755 they started building a new church. In ten years the most beautiful central Baroque creation on Slovenian soil thus arose. It is the central cultural monument in Styria. It has five altars-of course the main one and four side ones, a pulpit, two confessionals and a choir with organs. The entire church is all in frescoes, which painter Franc Jelovšek painted for three years. The Stations of the Cross was painted by someone else. All other equipment-altars and such was done by several master workshops. The organ was made by master Janeček. The church is a branch church and by prior arrangement they come to open and show it.

From the reconnaissance for my Škofja Loka retirees to Javor(1132m) in Zasavje hills. Mountain guides always do a reconnaissance tour before the main tour and assess just the starting point, path difficulty, conditions on the path. Again I assessed that the ascent to Javor itself would be too steep and they would go only to the village Sveta Planina. This I photographed on the tour.
