Triglavski, if it's no secret, what do you do in normal life? I mean days outside those mentioned 175. Regards

Good question.

Well our Triglavski is sometimes a bit strict but strict for a reason. Unfortunately more and more hikers go to mountains without proper gear, without fitness, without basic knowledge..... Example: Last day of vacation we went to Mangart (Slovenian mountain, ita. dol) and an approaching thunderstorm already chased us from the top....Halfway down we met a group of 4 guys in sneakers, shorts, no backpacks , happily ascending. We advised them to turn back but you know... When we were safe the storm raged and I just hoped they turned.... For me every ascent is a new adventure...so I'll be a beginner with experience for quite some time (maybe forever) (heheheeh) Triglavski is a real gentleman who always likes to help and advise.

To avoid misunderstanding, I highly value - and respect - Triglavski's comments. The question is asked because I think Triglavski is a lucky person who has managed to realize his love for mountains as a daily activity. I'm mainly interested in his recipe for doing that.

Curiosity lured me again and I opened this page. It's true that we're beginners all our life, since every day is a new beginning for us. I forgot to add in the previous reply, if I manage to hike at least another ten years, I'll say now I have some experience, but we gather experiences every new day anew and in the evening we can ask ourselves what the new day gifted us. It's true that my husband and I discovered the charm of mountains in more mature years; if twenty years earlier, we'd probably be somewhere on ... Maybe philosophizing a bit, but it's true we try to find each our own pleasures and goals in life, which vary greatly from person to person. Maybe I'll even manage to meet him personally someday, triglavski. At various meetings with older folks, even eighty-year-old hikers, I remain speechless and their talk stays deep in my soul and heart. No big deal, let everyone find in mountains what they seek, if returning to valley empty, better try something else. Best regards.

Yes, unfortunately I still go to work; until the Schengen relocation I had the nicest workplace imaginable, now much worse, the end-of-year balance will be poorer too, last year was exceptional, this year I'm counting on 130 days; otherwise I occasionally deal professionally with mountains, so they pay me to go to the mountains with bonuses, but then it's usually not pleasant.

Hello mountain lovers! I'm also interested in the conditions to Škrlatica? Is winter gear still needed, is any route dry, condition of fixed protection... Best thanks for the reply!

Yesterday in Vrata, I took a little look at the path to Škrlatica. To the wall below Škrlatica I think the path is dry, in the wall I don't know how it is, the ridge looked dry. I think you can get to the top already, but I'd still take an ice axe. This was just a view, not path experience, hope it helps.

aljoša1 I think the path is dry This is not info for the one who wants to climb Škrlatica! I was on Saturday on Stenar via Sovatna. At some places ice axe and crampons use is mandatory, because in the morning snowfields are hard and icy and slip risk is very high. Snow is still very much in high mountains, so great caution needed. Škrlatica can be ascended with ice axe and crampons.

If anyone is heading to Škrlatica this weekend, I'd kindly ask to let me know what the conditions on the path are: snowfields, fixed protection, bivouac... Thanks!

Hi, I'm also interested if anyone has recently hiked the path to Skrlatica, since I'd try to climb it in the next few days, if it's safely passable without crampons/ice axe. I'd be very grateful for a quick reply. -Grom-

Hello! Yesterday I was at Skrlatica (from Vrata). Conditions really excellent, 'šajba' clean. There is still lots of snow in the mountains; on the path to Skrlatica there are several snow patches, in yesterday's conditions ice axe and crampons were not needed, snow soft, on the descent snow patches can be safely 'ski-skated' (but in any case I recommend ice axe and crampons in the backpack; just in case, safety first!). @bospav&grom: bivouac was half empty, previous day 5 people slept; if anyone plans to sleep: you only need a sleeping bag, candle, lighter. Good luck! Best regards,

And can you go up without ice axe and crampons? I'd go on Friday.

Hello, interested in the tour from Kriški Podi to Skrlatica. What's the path like, what gear is needed and approx. how much time does it take. Thanks for the reply.
