Hello, approximately how much walking is there to Skuta (from Logarska) - via the ridge or Dolgi hrbet and to Grintovec? LP

Today I went to Skuta, this time for the first time via Žmavčarje, descent via Kokrško sedlo. Path without special features, and it was not hot at the early morning hour either. But on Mali podi I vainly searched for the bivouac under Skuta. There, where it should be according to my understanding, I found only scattered remains and a still standing table. Now it is not clear to me if these are remains of something else and I missed its real location or if something happened to the bivouac? Maybe they demolished it to install a new one, like under Grintavec? I have not followed any news about it. The picture is not really high quality, taken with the phone, from the ridge path to Skuta

The new bivouac is supposed to be set up the second weekend in August, at least that's what the guys who were working up there on Saturday said. Otherwise, there was talk that this year they would replace not only bivouac II but also the one under Skuta. http://www.gore-ljudje.net/novosti/118591/#19700101010000

@smatjaz that's not the glacier under Skuta. The snowfield is indeed under it, along the path to Ledine, but the "real" glacier is nicely hidden from the sun under the ridge Skuta - Kranjska Rinka.

he, he, he thanks Robi, then I haven't seen the real one, I didn't dare stretch over the overhang, so I wouldn't see it up close...

You can see it very nicely from Ledinska trojka. (Babe, Ledinski vrh and Storžek) I admit that I haven't stood on it myself yet... Best regards and good luck

Doesn't look much like a glacier...

It's true, but by volume it should be at least equal, if not larger than the Triglav one. By area it's of course smaller... And if Triglav has its "little glacier", Skuta can have one too. Otherwise, in professional literature it's listed as Ledenik pod Skuto.

It's true Robi, I read that somewhere too when some Swiss guys used a new method to measure the volume of both glaciers and found out they even increased, especially the one under Skuta which is supposed to be even larger than the Triglav one.

Where's the trail running topic already open? Next time take a bigger backpack so you'll have enough drinks for him, klutz. I always carry enough water for my dog too, but you can't even for yourself. Go throw yourself out with some teas and somehow halve the hiking time. Still messing around without the essentials, nothing's taught you. And you'll be looking at flip-floppers there under Mangart.

What is this now, Dejan? Instead of pleasing the girls, they criticize you.
