We have been to Slavnik from several starting points before, from Prešnica, Podgorje, Hrpelje, this time first from Markovščina. In Kozina we turned towards Hrpelje, Matarsko podolje, towards Reka. In the village Markovščina we immediately noticed hiking and cycling signs for Slavnik. We went along the Slovenian hiking trail, also noticed signs for the European footpath E6. The path is well marked, no dilemmas on the path. According to the sign, it is 2 hours 30 to the top of Slavnik. Soon it completely cleared up and it got windy on the top, as usual. We had nice views to the Koper bay, but not as far as the Dolomites and Julians today. Short stop at the hut, some already ate gnocchi, others bobiče, we had coffee, tea and strudel. We returned towards Mali vrata, 2 hours from the top of Slavnik, total 3 hours to Skadanščina and another good half hour to the starting point. This direction is also well marked, the path pleasant and easy. On the meadow we found some nice apricots. To Ostrič from the top of Slavnik is 6 hours, we have it planned, but from another starting point.... On the way we also had a picnic, our Robi spoils us with bread that needs no additions! He really is a master, but we also had some Bela Krajina delicacies. On the way we bought honey, suckling pig. Great day in a super team. Total 600 m elevation gain, 17 km.
