yes, larches would shine today too if fog hadn't taken quite a bit of that autumn splendor nasmeh

. But somehow up to Vratica it still seemed it would be the nicest. Then on top we waited a bit for peaks to show, but sadly they didn't. Not for us, maybe later. Still some pics from this morning.

This year somehow never the right day for me to visit Slemenova Špica. Sure, if chasing gold-yellow colors. First foggy, yesterday way too late as gold fully fallen by now. But sadder are the dry pondlets. Sixth year already they say.
Otherwise huge crowds yesterday, real sports day!

We two also yesterday at this wonderful location in the Julian Alps, in the world between the rocky wall of Mojstrovke on one side and Ponca on the other. About Jalovec it's hard to speak, as yesterday it was almost not visible. But we almost didn't miss it, as we were captivated by the glowing colors of the larches, which couldn't hide. They are there at this time anyway, and not even the sun hiding behind clouds can take away their charm nasmeh

We ascended via the upper path and realized how right we were. From that path we spotted two chamois, which actually didn't let themselves be disturbed, so we could admire them undisturbed and take pictures of course. The other thing that captivated us was some sparkling little lake under the lower path, which caught our eye. Fortunately, we admired the really nice pond, which probably was born in this last rainfall and thus replaced the ponds on Slemen, which have been gone for seven years now. Well, this year a brown puddle appeared, which has little in common with the former beauty.
Yes, to that pond we headed on the return and didn't have the feeling that anyone else noticed it.

After three rainy days in Trenta the sky cleared just on the day of returning home. During the drive from the 50th hairpin of Vršič road to the pass wonderful views, the last two hairpins snowy and frozen. At Vršič full of cars and people and 0°C. Path to Slemenova špica already very well trodden, slippery and icy in places, approx. 5 cm snow fallen. Wonderful morning with wonderful views all around. On return 5 degrees more, snow slushy, road salted. nasmeh

Today up through Grlo, down past Črnih vod.

Grlo dry, higher 20-30cm fresh powder. First time I was there. Worried about orientation, but no (big) issues (despite covered markers and no track). Tip for mates; when you exit Grlo, traverse the slope, don't go right up the hill.
