I am very sorry that the keeper at Slivnica has changed. For me this stop was very pleasant in recent years and one of the few where I always stopped. Also because it was (one of the few) dog-friendly. Shame!

Today the hut was open. I got excellent tea, coffee is good, they have those short ones. Those who want stamps, they are in the hut, the triangular Slivnica summit one is where it belongs, i.e. on top of Slivnica. Bring your own ink pad because there isn't one there.

True, the caretaker changed, but the staff stayed the same, so Enka's comment seems misleading to me, since everything remained the same as before. I recommend the path via Grahovo, as it's the least touristy and mostly runs under tree canopies.

Jarilo, since the change I haven't been up there yet and I didn't comment on the new caretakers, so I don't know what's misleading here? Given that you obviously know the new situation, I'm wondering if dogs still have access to the hut?

Night view from our Coprniška Slivnica. So no one says Slivnica is a bad viewpoint, in good weather you see right to the other end of our galaxy

A real winter idyll. But holding the pole in front is harder?

Actually no, it even helps me with balance and on short flat parts I can push myself forward a bit.

Thanks, Miri. On the path from Cerknica in the lower part, there are quite a few trunks across the path, but with a bit of good will everything can be overcome.

Otiv, is the path in the upper part very icy or is it possible to go on footsteps (interested because of footwear)

Mountaineering Association Cerknica reports that the path leading from Cerknica to the Dom na Slivnici is open again. At the same time they warn about active forestry rehabilitation works in the area of the mentioned hiking trail. Currently several hiking trails are closed. Information about them can be found at www.stanje-poti.pzs.si.

@lijaneja, the path itself is already quite icy, so small crampons come in handy. I put on gaiters myself and went my own way, enjoying the winter fairy tale.

Interesting report from PD Cerknica. It probably refers to the main marked path which shortly after the start turns a bit left, from there a chainsaw could be heard too. I mostly go up the right one, which is a bit shorter but steeper. The foresters haven't been here yet, as there were 31 pines across the path, some of them huge. All with roots in the air, none broken. Only right at the start one smaller spruce was lying. Snow on top relatively little too, cca 10 cm. Since I went up early in the morning when it was still severe frost, it didn't slip even on the icy track, but when the ice thaws a bit, it becomes a dangerous slide on descent. A bit before the shed by the path someone decorated a growing little spruce with real baubles - most ingenious. Due to clear weather visibility up top was fantastic - no wind either. One would just stay up there...

On Sunday we went in foggy and cloudy weather from Cerknica to Slivnica. In between the sun shone for a few minutes several times. Lots of people as usual here.
