Slovenian alpine pastures in all seasons

velkavrh14. 10. 2014 20:36:50
From pasture Blato I headed to pasture Krstenica. I went along the mountain road, which has actually turned into a logging drag. At the junction of paths to pasture Brintovica and Krstenica I turned towards Grintovica and soon joined the path leading to Krstenica from Voj. But you have to be extremely careful not to get lost. This path from Voj is marked. But it turned out longer than the easier variant that goes from the parking lot at pasture Blato along the path to pasture Pri Jezeru and after ten minutes directs us right to pasture V Lazu - we're there in a good hour. And from pasture V Lazu we then have another hour to pasture Krstenica. The path to pasture V Lazu is quite steep, stony and gravelly. I actually returned along this one and it didn't particularly excite me. The pasture simply thrilled me. The huts are somehow lined up on the hillocks of the pasture and it's completely different from pasture Blato or pasture V Lazu.
This is the signpost at planina Blato for planina Krstenica.1
The start of the forest road was promising, then the path changed into a skid trail.2
This is the path junction for the planinas. I went towards Grintovica.3

The third pasture I visited today was pasture V Lazu. I went there from pasture Krstenica and descended there in less than an hour. This pasture is something completely different from pasture Krstenica. It lies on a huge grassy clearing surrounded by forests. The pasture is on complete flatland. Currently it's all green. It's a grazing pasture and here is also a point on the cheese trail. It has a dairy and even water supply.

On the path the views of that mountain impressed me.3
It is truly magnificent-I will visit it another time. This is Debeli vrh-2390m.4

For about a year now I've been exploring our pastures. I'll have work for a few years. Just in Triglav National Park I've surely counted a hundred. But summer escaped me because of an accident. About three years ago I barely took any pictures of pastures I passed by, before that not even that. Among my trips to our mountains I still have lots of pastures - at least one photo. Next year and some even this year will come up, and I'll probably walk them and study them in detail.
This is Jenkova planina past which we go if we go on a tour to Baba nad Jezerskim. This hut is already on the Austrian side.1
This is planina Nad Sočo, which we pass by when going to Bavški Grintavec.2
Poljska planina from the path to Roblek.3
Planina Planinca is next to Poljska planina.4
Planina Govnač on Spodnja Komna, where there are ruins of military facilities from World War I.5
Planina behind Migovec - we go past it if we go from Kuk to Spodnja Komna.6
Planina Dolge njive below Cjanovca - Zaplate ridge.7
Planina Poljana from the path to Rodica.8
In front of the hut on Dobrča is Podgorska planina.9

Planina Velika Poljana.13
Planina Javornik below Storžič.14
Smokuška planina at the source of Završnica - soon after Zelenica.15
From Svačice you can see to the Austrian side the Celovška koča and Mačenska planina. I was there when I went via ferrata to Stol.16
I have been to Planina Pekol in Italy several times. This is the view of it from Špika Hude police.17

Brane, you've nicely tackled a new topic. I see you're a real explorer and you've thoroughly used the nice October days for roaming the pastures. I just looked at your messages quickly, but I'll definitely examine this information more closely. Be wellnasmeh

tinky, thanks, I corrected it. Somehow that j escaped me.

Bohinj, Fužine and Pokljuka pastures are somehow closest to us and we know them best.

Most are Bohinj ones - as many as 22 are mentioned: Lopučnica, Razor, First and Last Vogel, Zagradec, Storeča raven, Suha, Poljana, Osredki, Bareča dolina, Planina za Liscem, Planina za Črno goro, Planina za Malim vrhom, Strme, Vresje, planina Za Šavnikom, Ribčeva, Bitenjska, Pečana, Soriška, Planina Lajnar. Maybe I missed some.

18 Fužine ones are mentioned: Ovčarija, Dedno polje, planina Velo polje, planina Malo polje, planina Pod Mišelj vrhom, planina Voje, planini Spodnja and Zgornja Grintovica, planina Vodični vrh, Hebed, Laz, Viševnik, Krstenica, Blato, Jezerce, Planina pri jezeru, Trstje, Vogar. Say, the great pastures expert Pavle Smolej doesn't even mention pastures like Spodnji and Zgornji Tosc - there are only ruins and also not Jezerce pastures under Studorski pass, if I'm correctly informed.

Pokljuka ones total as many as 29, rovte are counted separately, which are some kind of fore-pastures.

Today, the autumn pasture Praprotnica. Praprotnica is an extensive pasture and the stalls are arranged over a large area far around. I walked part of it already at the beginning of winter. This time I also visited Razpotje above pasture Pratnica and viewed the healing radiation points. At Razpotje I turned left and arrived at pasture Praprotnica at the dairy. Behind the dairy along the path to the main access road for the pasture.
We park at the large parking lot opposite the barracks at Rudno polje near the Biathlon center.1
Opposite the biathlon center, we are now invited to the Energy Park.2
These points look like this.3
These are the energy points at Razpotje.4
There are as many as 26 energy points.5
At Razpotje we turn left and soon reach Planina Praprotnica at the dairy.6
The dairy is on our left side.7
On our right is the farm at Planina Praprotnica, where they live and farm permanently.8
This is their cowshed.9
Next to the dairy is water.10
Water was already captured before World War II.11
I descended across the alpine pasture to the main road leading to the pasture and viewed the huts there, mainly used as holiday homes.12
This is a barn.13
Likewise a barn.14
This one too.15
Buildings are scattered all around the alpine pasture. The pasture gradually and gently slopes towards a nice flat meadow where I spotted cows.16
17
18
Water on the pasture.19
This hut is nicely renovated.20
This was a barn by the hut that is decaying. The lower part is masonry with a wooden ceiling, and upstairs they stored hay.21
For old huts on the alpine pasture it is characteristic that the lower part was masonry with a wooden ceiling and wooden upper part of the hut.22
Summer is past, the huts are carefully locked.23
Beside the huts there are often barns with lofts.24
Sometimes they even mowed with scythes and dried in the hayrack attached to the barn.25
The owners have a bit neglected it.26
Mainly the hut and the barn are one next to the other. Each alpine pasture is architecturally something special.27
This cow appeared from nowhere. Then I realized she wasn't the only one.28
29
Buildings on the alpine pasture are scattered far from each other. The hayrack is separate here. Some huts even have their own nicely fenced pasture or meadow.30

Nice that you say that Grohot is correct. I've been asking this for a long time, what's right. On the hut there's a sign na Grohatu, on some signposts Grohot, on some Grohat. Stanko Klinar used to say that what's correct is what the locals say. So please Brane, just satisfy this curiosity of mine, why is Grohot correct. Greetingsnasmeh

Today to winter Pokljuka. I parked at Rudno polje by the Biathlon center. Biathletes and cross-country skiers already merrily train. Then I went past planina Praprotnica and from here a couple of winter shots of this planina.

Today I finally went to visit planina Zajamniki. Last year early winter December I missed the path because I went on unmarked trails in snow and got lost. Now I rather went straight on forest road. It was driven. Wheel tracks were bare. Planina surprises you with its size. On planina they graze and make cheese. Most nicely renovated huts used only as weekend or holiday objects.

From planina Zajamniki I continued to planina Konjska dolina. In half an hour I was at the planina.
Already at the path junction before Praprotnica, the signpost shows that it is about five km to the planina Konjska dolina.1
Soon after Zajamniki we reach a few huts - the area is called Peči.2

I waited almost a month for somewhat nice weather and today I finally got it. I decided to view the little-known planina Berjanco. It is located on the left side of the longest, i.e. first, abandoned ski lift on Zatrnik. At the upper farm we turn left on the track and soon see a couple of objects seemingly used as recreational facilities. Pastures are fenced, in summer they still graze here.

Closest to planina Barjanci is planina Rčitno-900m. It is actually on the border of Triglav National Park. The path from Berjance to planina Rčitno we must know well. We get there in about forty minutes. In between I visited a viewpoint from where Bled is wonderfully visible. On the nice large green plain we spot the planina. On the planina there are many objects seemingly used as holiday facilities. If they graze there, it is not known to me.
For a while we walk along a forest road, for a while along beautiful forest paths.1
