On Saturday on Špik, conditions were good, just a little snow which had iced up in Kačji graben, so some caution was needed. Weather was nice, almost summery. We took our time to enjoy on the windless summit with nice views far aroundnasmeh

In the high mountains there is still a little snow and it's currently a suitable time to conquer peaks that are not often conquered in winter. Today Špik was on the agenda, already at the parking lot it was visible that there would be quite some traffic on the approach. And indeed, a trio had well cut the trail, we reinforced it further. At the top pleasant 12 degrees C and fantastic views, from Krn to Grossglockner and nearby Martuljški vršaci, Škrlatica, Prisank and others.
Given the current conditions I warmly recommend the tour :).
And technical details: parking-Summit-parking: distance 10.2 km, time 5.50 hours, elevations ± 3240m

It's worth adding that Kačji graben is quite icy and rather unpleasant on descent.

Morning or forenoon on Špik via Kačji graben. At the summit I enjoyed the views and pleasant sun for almost an hour, during the return or in the second part of the descent the weather turned bad. Regarding the conditions, snow starts from about 1800 m onwards and there is still plenty, the part before and when turning right to the last slopes is partially crusty. From there crampons and ice axe are recommended in the morning, at least today it was quite hard so I used both there, in case of higher temperatures it sinks a lot. Summit part crusty, more in photos.

Today I was on Špik, route Pišnica-hut in Krnica-Špik. Path normally passable, under summit small snow patch fully avoidable. No winter gear needed, as some unreasonably upset on forum about running gear. Yeah, some enjoy walking, others running. Info welcome from all. Don't know what misleading on gear, if no winter gear needed why write I did.

A little below Lipnica the mists started breaking up, creating changing veils around the hills.

This time I booked two days for my better half nasmeh and yesterday took her through Kačji graben to the top. We descended via Lipnica to Koča v Krnici.
This morning she admired the peak from Gozd Martuljek, where she was yesterday mežikanje.

We started our three-day ramble in the Julians with Špik. On Saturday past Koča v Krnici over Lipnica to Špik and down the same path. Some cloud caps on peaks but views still wonderful.

Today (20.7.16) on Špik. Both ways through Kačji graben. Quite a few people on top and wonderful views. Careful on return as path steep, rocks slippery and damp.
