Today we visited it and the three who were up yesterday liked it very much, said they'll surely return, same for me...Conditions good, weather held and enjoyed...Not many visitors this yearmežikanje

A bit further up... and a little more...2
The steepness does not relent and with each step you are closer3

We leave the winter gear, to the summit I knew from recent visits it is just scree.5

Hi, I'm interested if the last part of the trail is dry, where it's a bit more demanding? Thanks

Today 31.5. past Koča v Krnici below Gamsova špica to Lipnica mežikanje Trail (personally one of the more elegant) wintered well. Snowfield of compact soft last year's from Špica to Kotel and good 150 elevation meters below Glave passable with proper gear. Back the same to friendly Krnica.

Today up Kačji graben, returned via Lipnica to Krnica. About Kačji graben I've seen quite a few comments like never again. But I liked it a lot. Nice views, the trail is nice too. I don't remember the last time I gained 650 vertical meters quite easily in the first hour. Speed dropped a bit later. The scree isn't that bad, the trail is worn to the solid base. A bit below the saddle where it could be trickier there's still enough snow. I put on crampons just in case, but it's doable without. Of all visitors today I was the only one with winter gear. On the descent to Krnica there are still some snow patches, but at these temperatures all are crossable without gear. Though I rarely eat in the mountains, I stopped at Koča v Krnici where the food had already run out by 14.

Has anyone been up in the last days? What's the situation, are the snowfields still persisting?

I was there last Sunday. Went over Kačji graben. At top of scree there are 2 snow patches. No problems for me. No winter gear needed.

Hello.
Next week planning with daughter to Špik. She'd like to do a loop trail, so wondering if you can advise which trail better up and which down.
Thanks for help
Best, Tone

Nice realization that someone still waits for you in slippers ...
(Flotsam of yesterday's sightseer).

Before the descent into Kačji graben, still to the Frdamane police. This time I didn't apologize for overlooking them again. nasmeh

Good luck.

Hi, does anyone happen to have info on paths to Špik: up past the hut in Krnica, down via Kačji graben, wondering if it's all dry?

Thanks

Approximate yesterday's photo, borrowed from FB (Hribolazec, posted by Jana). In the cirque between Špik and Lipnica shows a bit more solid snow, elsewhere less, starts around 1800 m. Roughly nasmeh

We two went on Sunday. Up past the hut in Krnica, path completely dry; down through Kačji graben, snow there. No gear needed, not icy and nice descent. Otherwise ice axe and crampons yes, needed when it freezes. But now not whole scree under snow, lower no snow.
Good luck, regards

This morning to Špik via Kačji graben. Great tour on a sunny Sunday, screes no issue under snow. Snow from ca. 1800 m (before screes) to top just 10 m dry path (you know... "Not yet for sandals"). Base sinks 10-20 cm at start so find firmer, higher more frozen, last part icy (ice axe, crampons!). Don't know after 9 am snow base, on return still in shade and frozen.
Regards

Since conditions change fast... anyone have more recent info?

Not interested in style "is winter gear needed?", but mainly how much snow left and if snow sinks (or how deep) on slightly later start. After (slightly earlier ended) shift.
