There will still be nice days for this repeat, so no panicmežikanje. But I'd add this: real mountaineer is one who's not grumpy and sulky because didn't conquer certain peak, and one who knows when smart to turn backnasmeh. Anyway wolf, extraordinary congrats for this ascent and wonderful picsvelik nasmehvelik nasmeh. Thanks.

Repetition undoubtedly follows, just like many times before. :- ) Yes, winter conditions. Sometimes you walk, other times it just doesn't go. You have to take that into account in winter.

Regards and Merry Christmas.

P.s. Mine will be special again (two-year-old 'Little Santa'). :-)

Has anyone hiked from Povelj or from Laški nad Bašeljem up? What's the path like there above the tree line to the top?

Thanks in advance

When do you plan to go up? I'm planning for Tuesday nasmeh

Regards. From Povelj to Karničar Hut no problems. Further, I advise against it, because it's an avalanche area and usually lots of windblown snow. If you know the unmarked crossing to the ridge it would be doable. Good luck

Thanks serajko. Don't know it so won't risk it. There'll be other chances, Storžič won't go anywhere mežikanje

If anyone knows the mentioned crossing to the ridge and plans to go up these days, let them say so, we'll go together.

Just talked to the hut keeper at Koča na Lovrencu and she said today someone slipped on the path to Storžič.. Apparently very icy, so crampons mandatory!!!

it's no longer a question of equipment, dear souls! winter gear: i.e. ICE AXE, CRAMPONS, AVALANCHE KIT and WARM CLOTHES and HELMET are integral part of high altitude gear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God help us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last weekend, when I went from Mače to Storžič via Kališče, I fully equipped myself at Bašelj Pass, helmet, crampons, ice axenasmeh, someone said he'd put on crampons higher up (mistake)mrk pogled. Later someone else reached the top completely without gear, just hiking boots on, no helmet, ice axe, cramponseek, if I'd had at least 2 ice axes I'd surely give that hiker an ice axe to descend safelynasmeh....luckily it all ended well. Please don't challenge snow conditions in the mountains, always carry full gear, helmet, crampons, ice axe, good gloves, extra clothes, first aid, drinks, food, Jušev's avalanche triple advice, get it in Kibuba for 200 euros...etc
Safe and happy in the rest of the year and in 2012.

Jus, I agree with you.. no matter how nice the weather has been lately in the valley, that still doesn't mean the same up top. Just the last couple 100m are the most critical, no matter which route you take.

This morning my neighbor and I watched a rescue on the Storžič ridge (above Bašelj Pass) with binoculars. Someone was just being hoisted into the helicopter by winch.

About carrying the necessary gear into winter high mountains, really no more words needed.

Hello
It seems to me that I was misunderstood. Nowhere did I mention gear, as it seems logical to me that it must be complete and even that's not enough if there's no knowledge or sense. The question wasn't posed that way either.
good luck

We don't know if he had gear or not....you can slip even with full gear.

Yes, they were rescuing some female hiker, apparently injured leg (ankle), you know how it is, accidents never rest, it can happen to anyone, even you Volk. You can twist your ankle at home on the doorstep. Then don't go out with such stupid statements.
