Hi... I am wondering what the road to Dom pod Storžičem is like?
Will it be fine or will my car suffer? nasmeh

Road to Dom pod Storžičem isn't that bad. If you don't have a Ferrari or something similar, it'll be fine.mežikanje

Hi! The road to the hut is quite nice, just go a bit slower... The car won't suffer at all!

Thanks to both, we left the Ferrari in the garage and went with another car, and the road is really quite cool. velik nasmeh
It was a nice outing, the mountain was basking in the sun, below everything in fog.

On Friday afternoon and yesterday we walked part of the transferzala from Jezersko over Jekarca to Bašelj saddle and to Kališče overnight. Yesterday then to Storžič and over Škarjev rob to the hut under Storžič, then to Tolsti vrh and Kriška gora and descent to Tržič where we ended the path. The path is nice, in places rocks were wet from fog and caution was not superfluous. On Kriška gora they had an action preparing firewood stocks for winter.

This crossing has long been brewing in my head, so I did it today when there was no time for anything longer. It's a hunter's path drawn on the map, but hand on heart largely pathless. nasmeh

Another road question:

What's the road like from the parking above Mače onwards to Storžič? Thanks for the answer.

The road was on Sunday drivable only for those who don't mind damaging their car. Quite a few such. Otherwise on foot only 15 minutes' walk. Best to put back the no-driving sign as before. Now gnaw me !!!!!

I fully agree with you @serajko, road only to marked arranged parking, further hiking path; me too Sundayzavijanje z očmi sideways watched "hikers" who can't do those 15 min walk and unnecessarily voluntarily stink and dust passersby, mostly offroaders; lp

Finally. Long-awaited snow. Literally from summer to winter. It didn't give me peace. Had to go touch it. To Kališče. Downhill slid perfectly. nasmeh

STORŽIČ UNDER FULL MOON

Started in the afternoon towards Kališče despite minor annoyancesjezen. At Kališče around 19 and then on to the summit. From the Kališče Hut onwards there's still some snow on the path, but only on non-exposed parts, crampons stayed in the backpackzavijanje z očmi. North wind blowing, so winter gear was welcome on top
All the way to the summit only the moon lit my way, on descent for safety sometimes headlamp too.
If my camera could capture everything I experienced and saw, it'd be kitschyjezik
Definitely gotta repeat thisvelik nasmeh

Almost forgot to mention I met no one on the path????jezik

The full moon was incredible this time. Everything was cracking, it seems to meeek. Retreat above 2000 was inevitable. Fed up, going to the mountains I say before noon, pack stuff and pick a path nobody who went there wants to repeat, if I'd take someone they'd think I hate them. Ideal to sweat out lungs and full moon aftermath. Path from Povelj via Javornik (past Karničar hut) straight up SW gully (visible from highway, looks steep from there). First time despite steepness wearing double long sleeves, gloves, hat again. Windy to summit, cold, fog racing long long. Almost no snow, patches no issue, very hard though. Path steep and greasy, sometimes slide back. Best on top, west and north clear. No snow visible north side. Return ridge via steep hunter path dry and bare, then bit off-trail steep grass to marked path to Karničar hut. First snake encounter, poor thing stiff, no hiss strength. Nice weekend start.
Šank outdoors. Closed today.1
Karničarjeva koča. Steep only to here. Very steep ahead.2
Views were wide. In front Tolsti vrh, behind Očak3
In the shade frost persisted late. Larch in white attire. On the way home.4
The gully is getting steeper and steeper. They don't say for nothing that the powder snow is good here.5
But we are the biggest... They came to watch me, the nosy ones6
A little forward, a little back. Greasy mud and steepness, guarantee for a slide. I'm not going back here.7
Stone on the summit, behind Kočna. Almost warm.8
Julian Alps with the champion9
First this year. Probably the last too. If it weren't the same kind, I would have warmed it, poor thing was completely motionless.10

Today in company with lots of effort and trudging, stood on top. To Kališče all ok, then snowshoes - as long as possible. Then trudging, trudging and finding safe passages.(There were real dangers.) We were first and only on top after snowfall. All efforts already rewarded during ascent (magnificent winter idyll, sunny), on top windy and foggy, but no less exciting. On descent some snowflakes. Lots of snow. Windblown in places, some windslabs elsewhere. Towards top up to 50-70 cm in spots. Tour really physically demanding (both in good shape), took exactly 5 hrs just ascent from Mač.
Yes, nice full-day first winter tour that satisfied me for ... a few days.nasmeh

No, no one. Just us. Poorly tracked. Part of descent we took different path, less avalanche-prone - along ridge - over rocks. But icy and extremely crumbly there. Every other rock I grabbed stayed in my hand. Definitely dangerous and strenuous, no matter where you go. Slowly, carefully and SENSIBLY.
