Storžič is probably currently one of the least snowy two-thousanders at this altitude.
Yesterday's conditions - visible from the pics; ascent from Bašelj saddle presents no major issues, on descent conditions over the middle part require more caution.
Ice axe and crampons at midday are not needed, but in mountains already quite cold, so if early, snow still frozen, but yesterday lack of sun, wind added too and a bit the weathermen, as "low cloudiness" reached surprisingly high.

In Zrelo there is some snow, but not on difficult spots. No snow on the ridge, yesterday some trouble with ice where the path turns to the sunny side. As for winter gear, you don't need it on this path yet. Regards

Yesterday on Storžič. Kanonir-Jekarica-Bašeljski preval-Storžič-Bašeljski preval-Bašeljski vrh-Dom na Kališču-Jekarica-Kanonir. Road is open and you can drive to the last parking lot, path well marked (praise to PD Kranj markers) despite lots of fallen trees. Above Jekarica there is frozen snow here and there, which doesn't cause major issues, same on the ascent to Storžič. Only critical is the path over Škarjev rob, other paths according to hikers without major issues. Storžič is an exception in KSA, plenty of snow everywhere else but here just a sample.

Midday a bit to stretch the legs. From Kališče conditions quite wintery, snow to the top just enough that it slid flat. Otherwise fog and diffuse light. Congratulations to the heroes who already stamped Kramarca.

Christmas is winter and Storžič in winter is a demanding mountain. The snow there is can be frozen and very dangerous. I always have crampons on such demanding mountains in winter and don't go to Storžič if you don't have experience with winter ascents, have nice and healthy holidays.

Born. Through Žrelo you don't go in winter, unless you meant through 5th Žrelo!!!
