Certainly, jan71. Otherwise, the entry jump can be bypassed on the left by continuing on the former hunting trail and ascent over grass, but that's another story. Lp.

Just to revive a post from over a month ago: on 22.11., on the way to Storžič (via Kališče) I lost my Samsung Galaxy S5 phone. It's waterproof. That was about 100-200m below the summit. I know chances are practically nil or minimal, but hope dies last. If anyone finds it, I'd be grateful if they contact me at tel. no. 040977556, or via ZS.

Wonderful, light breeze at the top. Path from Bašelj past Kališče ok, dry, only in scree at start of ascent to Storžič summit from Bašeljski saddle ice and old snow that can be bypassed. But still very careful!

Question for Volk, who obviously knows Storžič well, referring to photo 1 from 20.12.: Is the lower, more or less flat section part of the unmarked path crossing Storžič at about 1800 m? Does this path continue further west and can it be followed without major difficulties?

Tones, I noticed this a bit late ... Yes, what you're asking. It's an abandoned little trail that can still be followed somehow. Of course it gets lost in many places, so you need a very good sense of tracking. The track without major difficulties (biggest danger slip on grass) crosses the south slopes of Storžič from Bašeljski saddle to junction with unmarked path at edge of west gully. Lp.

Thanks for the answer, Volk. Last time I somewhat looked out for that trail uphill via SW ridge, then down to Bašelj saddle, didn't notice it. Next time I need to be more attentive. Also attaching an interesting motif from SW ridge towards Psica and Vrtača in the background.

Tones, terrain from Bašelj saddle to the jump over which I last went directly to the summit is actually pathless. You spot the trail only at the prominent shoulder, after which it disappears briefly again. From the shoulder to SW ridge the direction holds westwards slightly traversing upwards. If I think well, it's more like pathless overall. In the opposite direction it's even harder to follow the faint trail. Lp.

Today's conditions on Storžič. Below Kališče mud in full bloom, above Bašelj saddle quite slippery (soft snow on patches of soft ice). Fresh powder only higher on the ridge, not much snow but when it freezes ... Otherwise unfortunately foggy and fairly windy. For the žvotec it was there. Lp.

Hello. Please for help. In what condition is the path Povlje - Storžič (via Javornik)? Is the ascent suitable for first hike with crampons? Thanks for the reply and lp.

I'll repeat the question once more hoping someone sees it this time Hello. Please help. What's the condition of the Povlje - Storžič trail (via Javornik)? Mainly interested if the trail is icy? Is the ascent suitable for first hike with crampons? Thanks for answer and best regards.

I'll try to answer your question. The trail from Povelje is generally not used in winter because it has a pronounced southern exposure and is very prone to snow avalanches. Now there's not much snow but still a wet snow slab can slide down steep grass. But I'd need to see a pic of Storžič to say if it's ok to go or not. Definitely smarter to go from Bašelj Saddle.

Kiki, Bojan mixed it up a bit. From Povelje to Javornik pasture the trail goes mostly through woods and gullies. From Javornik then via western gully or between Psica and Little Storžič. It is certainly suitable for first hike with crampons and learning proper walking with them under good conditions of course. That Bojan variant goes from Bašelj past Lovrenc and is really dangerous in bad conditions.
