Today there were quite a lot of hikers on Storžič, from both Kališče and Žrelo and Škarjev rob. Earliest arrivals could still admire the view, after 11 o'clock fog came. Hut at Kališče is open.

Congratulations on the glory! That's really nice experience, in my long mountaineering "career" it happened only once to me.

At 7.30 we started from Dom pod Storžičem through Žrelo towards the top. Path through Žrelo is o.k., likewise all protections, but on the path some more scree, as after every winter. You "touch" snow twice - ice axe and crampons didn't come out today; but interesting that there's more snow on descent from top through Škarjev rob (south), than in Žrelo itself. Best regards, GK

today I was on Storžič... there were lots of people at the top (when I arrived about 20), unfortunately there were also (too) many flies at the top LP

Although the weather forecast predicted showers, we hikers from PD Cirkulane set off in the morning towards sunny Gorenjska and finished the ascent through Žrelo to the top and back via Škarjev rob to Dom pod Storžičem for a well-deserved lunch before the afternoon shower. The path was dry, here and there some snow tongue, otherwise a wonderful tour. I would praise the staff at the Dom, where they really take care of mountaineers so they don't stay hungry after a strenuous tour. Greetings! Lajči

lajcicar what about helmets for everyone??

On some crowded Italian via ferratas you'd be quite exposed without a helmet and no insurance coverage for injury either. This time on Storžič, due to bad weather they didn't run into returnees from the top nor chamois that might kick loose rocks. Otherwise probably a nice loop tour that I planned to do myself.

I hope someone from PZS sees what kind of guides some have! Personally, I think they should take away their guide badge right away...

Nowadays in the mountains at least 50% of people don't use gear necessary for certain difficulty tours. Among those who have it, they usually misuse it at critical spots, even carry it wrong on backpacks. For PD, if there were guides they should educate hikers better on carrying and proper use of gear, since if none, it can be rented almost free at Iglu for that day. Abroad besides zero insurance coverage on injury if even needed, you'd be stopped by mountain police already in the valley. I hope Lajčič's hikers still enjoyed the nice panoramic circular tour on Storžič and safely reached the valley.

Solido.......... PD Cirkulane according to PZS guides list (PZS Bulletin no. 5 - May 2010) don't have even one guide). So no one was there to educate and train them. Bandy....... If you don't have guide badge, no one can take it away. And question for MDO Podravja. How can they give positive consent for PZS entry to a club not meeting basic conditions. One is that the club must have proper number of expert staff, mainly guides.

Well, still praiseworthy that from Donačka they went straight up Storžič.

Hey guys, sure helmet and gear. But for me what's under the helmet matters and that you know where you're going and how capable you are then... You can have 3 helmets but you're not for the mountains e.g. And you Viharnik, for god's sake all your comments.

Well, someone writes something about the path, what conditions were like, then everyone piles on. This about helmets is sensible alright, but not here. Here it's about conditions on the mentioned path, safety in mountains can have its own topic in general talk.

Robirobi, maybe it'd be good if you listened to a mountain rescuer sometime, what all they go through because of guys who have "too much in their head" and nothing on it, not mentioning other gear, on interventions while voluntarily rescuing hotheads. Sure accident can happen despite all gear, many though exactly due to carelessness. Hats off to rescuers.

When a Haložan starts talking Ljubljana-style, that's the end. Lajcicar: you betrayed your people.
