Someone mentioned how it was good in this hut 20 years ago. Well approx. 25 years ago we were there, when I was still a kid, with our family for a week on vacation. Our relatives knew the warden back then. We didn't hike much in the mountains and I preferred the sea a lot back then (today it's of course the opposite) so I didn't like it that much.
Well, but as I remember the warden was okay, friendly, food too, although I wasn't used to it, sleeping was a bit uncomfortable by my standards back then... we went on some easier hikes (halfway to Srednja Ponca, I think to that vertical chimney then to Vršič and to Izvir Nadiže, Planica,...)
But I remember how the warden told us that in his hut occasionally easterners (mainly Czechs) sleep over and use it as a base for escaping west to Italy. He told us confidentially that he doesn't mind, let them go, but it still bothers him because he has regular police visits because of it. 
Like this now, when I know some paths up there: from our side you can somehow get up to the ridge: to Srednja Ponca, but then down (all tough descents and via ferratas)? Or to Rob above Zagače, down then via Via della Vita?  There really had to be distress for them to choose such paths (of course because there was less guarding, border guards,... than on easier crossings). Or they didn't even realize what they were getting into.

I think I saw you yesterday at the celebration of the enviable anniversary (in the inn at cake cutting). I gift you a couple of verses that my mom composed more than 50 years ago:

One touristy today. In the morning it rained to Kranj and back. Meanwhile the sky over Tamar even tried to spread blue. We combined the walk with a visit to Zelenci and the Alpine Museum. The hut is open, tomorrow they have New Year's Eve party, the path is ratracked, about halfway there's also a ski track made. Museum open all the time too (except on public holidays). Ciprnik and Slemenova Špica showed themselves, Ponca and Mojstrovka only walls, the rest in clouds. But we stretched our legs anyway.

On Sunday I plan to walk with my girl to Tamar valley (ski jumps - Tamar hut). And I'm interested if anyone knows if conditions for sledding are already there or if the path to the hut is "ratracked"? Thanks...

That's a good one. Sledding in Tamar. Even kids can't sled here because there's simply no slope for that. Only if you hitch a horse

Well then walking, if I'll maybe get some positive comment back. I'm just interested what the path is like now and not what the slope gradients are etc.... and if sledding is possible there at all.... I've been there already so I know how it is... Thanks!

Today nice, sunny and quite cold in the morning. Snow underfoot creaked like in the middle of the worst winter. Lots of snow in Tamar. Even though trees shook off snow load, it was still nice....
