To the mountains with a dog?!

The dog really didn't have a towel, but the owner should have taken care that the dog didn't fly over the armaflexes and shake all over us while shaking off. Other swimmers were indignant too. In nature only people like you bother me, who think they can own everything and do whatever they want. The whole animal world bothers me the least, so I know well how many animals are chased because of dogs. The world is also for animals, so let's give them peace and let dogs not hunt them. Who belongs where and how much they have to do with whom, you're surely speaking from your own experiences, that's why you know so well. And also so that you understand it all more easily. I like animals, but I'm afraid of dogs because a dog bit me badly years ago. I also like people who are cultured, normal and friendly to their fellow men.

I don't know why you got so upset about dog shepherds. Shepherds are valued more and more again. We who walk dogs can be dog shepherds. I think it's cute.

In our neighborhood there are 17 dogs. Only three owners keep them on a leash when taking them for a walk. The others are so cute, or rather not evil and don't do anything. That's what their owners say. But no one has bags for picking up poop. The behavior of dog owners is like that even when they go to the mountains with them. How they break the law, what their culture is, judge for yourselves. Dog owners also be objective and realistic in your assessment, regardless of your attachment to the dog.zmeden

Anyone who really has a dog as their friend takes it somewhere else, not to the mountains.

Exactly, I completely agree with what's written above!

or maybe dogs are not animals? dogs chase other animals??? what are dogs then? sorry, if you have a dog on a leash then it can't chase other animals. otherwise it's like this: the dog is exactly like the owner, if the dog is aggressive it means it was raised aggressively too- such dog owners who have untrained dogs get on my nerves too, although I have a dog myself and in general love all animals very much and also respect their living space and don't eat meat either. but well that's already beyond this topic. so I think: dog in the mountains why not, but suitable mountains for it, strictly on a leash, then I think no one has the right to interfere with us dog owners.

it's just that some people get on nerves too, let alone dogs or other animals. I don't find it strange at all that sometimes a cow or bull in the mountains goes wild and attacks someone. probably feels threatened or some perfect and super nice people tease it. a human would probably defend himself or surely would. it's the same with dogs and other animals. no no dear people THE WORLD IS NOT ONLY YOURS, WE HAVE APPROPRIATED IT..

Dear fellow discussants!
After someone sent me a link to a page where there was already a debate about dogs in the mountains years ago, I immediately regretted even asking any question. It seems to me that nothing has changed since then and the same is happening here and now: namely that those who advocate walking dogs in the mountains and those who don't approve will jump at each other's throats. But that wasn't the purpose of my topic. I just asked a question because I experienced such an unpleasant incident for the first time in the mountains and I didn't understand why exactly and only there. Why has no one ever said anything to me elsewhere????
I assume you are all mountain and hill lovers so I appeal to your heart: people be patient and understanding towards fellow humans and other living beings!
I just want to say that I don't agree either if the dog is unleashed and runs around among people. The dog should be unleashed when and where there are no other people. So unleashed dog that is leashed or held when we meet someone. But I agree that quite a few people don't do that!

I wish you a nice weekend ahead and lots of success in conquering the peaks!!!

Dog owners should be tolerant, not thinking they can go everywhere with their dog and do whatever. They disturb animals and people. They appropriate lawns, paths and forests. They don't pick up poop, don't have dogs on leashes,.... Where is the tolerance here, I wonder.

Some of us are afraid of dogs, so we ask owners to RESPECT THAT. On the Baronova path to Prevala I had to step aside far off the path into the slope for the dog. Owner did nothing. Didn't tie it up, huge shepherd just growled at me. Horrible. How much more tolerant should we be, Tijana, as you urge us to be tolerant?

What do you animal lovers do with your pets??? You drag them into the mountains in high temperatures, dogs drag themselves into shade, press heads between cold rocks. Owners COME ON LET'S GO FURTHER. Is this really love? That was my experience a few days ago below Rinkami. If you really love your dog you'll leave it at home. I have a dog too but don't torture it in the mountains. Think about it! Safe travels!

I've had close encounters with dogs several times (read: bitten me), even though I wanted nothing from any of them. Two of them were dogs that, according to owners, hadn't bitten anyone before me. If we take that I haven't "bitten" any dog yet --- who is threatened then???? The postman.jezen

Well dog lovers. Where are your comments? You learned something from dogs. Tail between legs and slink away.

My dog has no tail. He wisely stays silent and is tolerant to different ones during his short stay with other living beings on this planet.

Dog lovers cut off his tail too. What kind of love is that. Torture.

But I think a dog is a really nice companion for the mountains. Of course, if accustomed to it. But I think it's appropriate to take a dog on an excursion where there are very few people (say hunting paths and pathless terrain) and that you can rely on it not running off after wild animals.

On Sunday the dog brought to Stol a fist-thick and almost a meter long log! People were horrified, its owner proudly said the dog is used to it and always does that. Horrible. He himself barely huffed to the top, without the log of course. The dog struggled and wasn't on a leash at all. What all dog lovers invent to torture their friends. That's enough for the discussion: with a dog to the mountains.zmeden

Some enter their pets into summit logbooks. Sick. They are meant for hikers, if you didn't know.

Given all this, I think it would be good to educate hikers, mountain folk, hill walkers... how to behave in the mountains. What you can, what not. With whom to the mountains. Maybe that would be a nicer and better topic than all this spitting from one side and the other. Maybe some mountain guide or a real mountaineer who masters the mountains would sit at the computer and educate, inform, advise, give opinions on certain situations on the path from one thread to another. Because this messing around doesn't help any mountaineer. And in the mountains so far as much as I've walked, I've felt uncomfortable less often due to a dog than due to a human. And not the one with the dog. Actually, people probably don't like people more than the pet. I don't have a dog... What bothers me most is that when you pass a mountaineer he doesn't say hello when passing you. Well you see everyone is bothered by something. Now if you have time keep spitting here one after another. But I'm sure you'll go happily to the mountains. Bye somewhere UP THERE.
