To the mountains with a dog?!

Hi, on Sunday we plan to go to Brana with the dog. Is it dangerous? What experiences do you have? Maybe someone knows if there's a stamp at Brana? Thanks, best regards.

I don't know if people are crazy or what. This year I saw on paths to two-thousanders already two exhausted doggies, once I even argued. I take mine always only to a smaller hill. Please don't drag him in this heat up the mountains! Go for that stamp yourselves and have a nice time. Sammy

Planjava, I fully agree with you. Obviously some people are extremely unaware and don't even realize it's deliberate animal torture. In my opinion a dog has no business where there are ascents on rock. Not to mention that such a "caretaker" (well, caretaker... ) endangers their own safety (and maybe others') when dragging the dog on paths where the dog can pull them over the leash at the worst spot and it can end tragically. Well, "dog caretakers", attack... I'm used to it

Three weeks ago I was on Peč. On descent halfway I met a dog/boxer with owner. The dog was wheezing so much that I felt sorry for it. On passing I asked the owner why the dog was wheezing so much. He said it hasn't drunk since the hut and must hold out to the top. Since I had a full liter of water in my backpack, I gave it to the dog, and it drank it all. You won't believe it, the dog emptied the bottle. Not sorry for the water, sorry for the dog that has an irresponsible owner.

This topic was already dragging on two years ago - about dogs and mountains, horror... to condemn sensible dog caretakers who in this heat drag exhausted animals to high mountains. In cooler days I somehow understand, now sorry... I also have a dog, but I don't torture it.

Thanks for the answers, I understand your concerns about dogs in the mountains. The Bernese mountain dog was on Sunday on Olševa past Potocka zijalka without problem. To Brana early in the morning, so around 9 a.m. already up. Can you tell me what the road to Jermanca is like? thanks and best regards.

If you understand our concerns, then you won't drag your dog through the rocks anymore.

I'm interested how do you know that the dog didn't have problems and that it really enjoys the mountains? Because it can't speak, it just follows its master.

The dog will follow its owner, even to hell. Therefore in the heat, don't take dogs to the high mountains.

Come on, you've scolded me.... but really no one has any encouraging words... I don't feel like cleaning up, so say something more.

Thanks, you're great, anja. Our Bernese is very similar to yours and has a lot of stamina, I think. But it doesn't handle heat well...lp

Especially some owners who drag puppies to the mountains are bordering on fanatics, the dog can shit in the troughs where people drink water along the path, lick faucets and even almost pull sandwiches from children's hands, I experienced all this today on the hike to Uršlja gora, that some children are afraid of dogs doesn't interest these fanatics at all, their dog is the main one in the mountains. That some dogs off leash disturb us a lot doesn't interest them at all.

I was last Sunday on Uršlja gora from Naravske ledine. I have to admit, we met quite a few dogs with owners.......surprisingly I have to admit that all dogs were extremely calm and not disturbing at all. Everything depends on the owner, how he raises the dog. Isn't it the same with children? They are a mirror of our upbringing. But that's another topic. LP

You're right, panda. Both children and dogs are a reflection of our upbringing. Why not take the dog to the mountains if it's our best friend. Just like dogs, people also pee and poop in the mountains where they feel like it....a lot could be written about that....lp

Joža x, I'm more bothered by hikers who get drunk in mountain huts than dogs in the mountains. I also go to the mountains with a dog, I have enough water for myself and the dog. What about you, do you carry a potty with you, or a bag...

You know what, properly trained dogs don't bother me, nor cultured drunks, so I don't know why you've all ganged up on zoja like that. If she likes it, and the dog is properly trained (which I believe) I see no reason why not. Anyway, I have a feeling you're a bit jealous of her, because she's going hiking on Sunday, but you can't be bothered and gossip comfortably from the couch.

My final opinion on this topic which was already dragging last year, I feel sorry for dogs or bitches that go with their owners to the mountains in great heat, thirsty, with sore paws ... such irresponsible owners should get some punishment for animal cruelty. And if you step on a cat's tail, it meows, well let's see how the avalanche of justifying these dog jaunts in the high mountains will pour in. LP!

Hm, maybe a bit late, but anyway. As far as I remember, on the marked path there's at least one tricky spot where the dog might have problems. If you're going to try to get him through there, don't have the leash loop around your wrist... just in case. Lp.

my bitch always wears dog shoes, so no problems with sore paws... she suffers more if she stays home.. I really have luck with her... other dogs don't interest her, when she meets them she goes around... she doesn't care about chamois and ibex, because she's afraid of them.. DOESN'T PULL SANDWICHES FROM HANDS... I've never seen that at all... DOESN'T SHIT IN TROUGHS.. I haven't seen any.... so jožaX must have really bad experiences with dogs, probably doesn't like animals either..... zoja just take your benka with you to the mountains... I know how it is if you have to leave her home.... LP A.
