To the mountains with a dog?!

Just on off-trail and side paths, animals retreat before the influx of people, dogs, noise, and even there with a dog it's not appropriate. It has instinct and goes off after chamois. Let's give wild animals their space and peace too. We invade their territory, so be considerate and respect nature.

The dog must not be off-leash even if there are no people, BECAUSE THERE ARE ANIMALS IN THE MOUNTAINS TOO and dog owners do not pick up poop after their dogs. If you do not pick it up into a plastic bag, then swallow the excrementjezen! TIJANA, IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE TNP RULES, BETTER DON'T GO TO THE MOUNTAINS; THE SAME RULES APPLY ELSEWHERE IN SLOVENIAN MOUNTAINS TOO!!!!!!!!!jezen

Interesting, since when do only dogs have a hole in the ass? In the mountains everyone "poops" in nature, people, dogs, cows, sheep, chamois. Animals do it publicly, people hide. The difference is only that animals know how to poop, people have to wipe their asses too. Look around a bit, behind rocks, with eyes or nose, how much poop there is. You'll recognize the human ones by the pile of paper too, I assume they are human because so far I haven't met a dog, cow, chamois that wipes its ass with toilet paper. And I haven't met a human who would carry their own poop from the mountains in a bag (just look at conditions on Kredarica, even better Planika) or maybe happily swallow it behind a rock.

I don't have a dog and don't know why such a chase against them. In the mountains I haven't met an unpleasant dog yet, unpleasant human yes. Everyone makes a mistake sometimes.
For chamois, ibex, marmots and other mountain dwellers we humans are also aliens and a disturbing element in their home. The same goes for forest, river, sea dwellers...
Let's follow norms, recommendations and try to socialize, first people, those people their pets.

One more thing: I always thought mountaineers are "nice and proper" people, this forum shows just the opposite.

Tijana, read TNP rules, follow them, with your little dog just visit the mountains. Hope we meet sometime, if I read right you have a German boxer, which for me are among the nicer doggies.

Best, Saša

P.S.: Why so few people sign, it's nice to spit if you're anonymous.

Greetings to all. I have a Scottish shepherd that I often take to the high mountains. It only depends if the temperature is too high; I leave him at home, and if the trail is not suitable for him, both in length and difficulty. In winter he always goes to the high mountains, because he enjoys the snow endlessly. The dog is off-leash because he walks 1 m behind me. Well, if I meet people I immediately put him on the leash. He doesn't notice chamois, ibex, snakes etc. at all, so I think humans are more disturbing to mountain animals than dogs.
Well, regarding poop I fully agree with Saša.
And as for my experiences, no mountaineer has been scared of my dog; instead they petted and admired him and even asked if they can photograph him. Obviously I'm lucky and meet only friendly hikers. nasmeh

Do you have a dog for yourself or for others to admire? Don't throw all shit in one pile! Ask the vet how harmful dog poop is. How do you protect eyes and paws of your pet? Or do you think he doesn't need it? Ask the vet again. Best, Stanka

Hello Stanka, well yesterday I took the dog for a rabies shot and other dog diseases and at the same time asked the vet (Clinic for Small Animals, Ljubljana) if it is suitable to take the dog to the high mountains or not. Well, the vet said that if the dog didn't want to walk he would have shown it and lain down. He has toughened paws, no problems with eyes and the dog is for myself and I don't take him to shows.

It's obvious you're showing off (photographing) with him and thus easier connect with people. Many dog lovers do that. You probably wear shoes and glasses too. If you have a dog for yourself, don't force people with him into the high mountains. Well maybe he helps you gain self-confidence and you'll happily wander the hills alone. Your dog friend meanwhile waits at home in the shade, with lots of water and without sharp stones. Then if you feel like it, still a walk with him. ps. Find a better vet for your friend's sake.

Yeah, weird that people need a dog for it to get them out of the apartment. Then those people drag it into the mountains.zmeden

I'm really angry when I read this. What have you got against dogs? True, some dogs (and owners) are problematic, but you can't put everything in one basket. I take my little bitch only to smaller hills, to Kriška gora for example, and even that only in spring and autumn when it's not too hot. She's on a leash, most of the way in the backpack, as she's a smaller but sturdy breed and can't walk much. And so she sleeps nicely and snores on the way up and down. Surely I don't take her to show off and make contacts (as some smartass above says) but so she comes with me and doesn't sit alone at home. From my experience often much more noise is made by uneducated and spoiled children who have no relation to anything than by dogs. Surely all these "dog enemies" above have very nice and super well-raised kids, since they have so much to say about dog raising and behavior. Whoever doesn't like animals doesn't like people either! I agree with what's written above. Those who have the most to say are of course those whose children are impossible and so hopelessly raised that even the worst-raised dog doesn't reach their knees. I would abolish this thread, because we won't discover any new solution anyway, it's just: some and unfortunately more and more, the whole world gets on their nerves from people to animals. Such people should live on the moon which is not yet inhabited.

Only people who have dogs and have them instead of children can talk like that. What a comparison. That's how most dog lovers think, who are sick crazy about their dogs. That's why children get on their nerves. Really the dog is not guilty, but its owner. Abolish the thread because it doesn't suit you. Easiest to sweep dirt under the rug. Don't throw all animals in the same basket, because we're talking DOGS. You can't even distinguish that. Choose the moon yourself, there are no hopelessly raised children. Don't forget to take your dog, it might come in handy.....mrk pogledmrk pogled

Those people who can't or don't know how to establish a good, friendly, human relationship with a person usually do that with a dog. It obeys them, is grateful for food, play, walk. Patiently waits when and where to pee. If the owner says to the mountains, to the mountains. It obeys, because it can't say it's hot, fears precipices, paws hurt. Such people need power over someone. Over a dog, because a human resists, asserts his will, has his ideas. That doesn't suit them, a dog endures a lot. But every now and then, one bites its owner. And that's his end,

These responses really don't belong on HRIBI.NET. Here we talk about hikes and enjoying nature, not hatred and releasing your negative energy and "bashing" everything. What the hell have dogs done to you to hate them so much? Seriously, what? I'm really curious. For such problems there are other websites or psychiatrists. Think about it a bit.
