Conditions for ascent on Dad are really winter-colored, but totally cool, if you have crampons, ice axe and a bit, sorry term, balls. With husband we were up 14 days ago - DIVINE!!!

It's easy to have balls, but I still prefer common sense. Otherwise it totally depends on conditions and weather. In winter though it still seems more normal, and especially safe, to hike lower hills.

Every man has balls, but not every man has common sense! For such childish bragging I recommend another forum, this one is meant for WISER things, which you obviously don't understand!

It's true, respected 'little woman', enthusiasm about success really shines from your words and I envy ... but from an objective point of view ... Kovačija and 'balls' in winter conditions still aren't everything. Anyway, congratulations. Stane

Let's leave biology aside... What drives people up in inappropriate conditions is not "balls" but uncriticality, disrespect for nature and carelessness and irresponsibility (in the case that then those with brains have to rescue those "with balls").

Don't start a new thread about blacksmiths and chickens. I have a feeling it will repeat the long rambling like on the topic... dogs in the mountains... A bit joking a bit serious, more tolerance and good will. LP

"Ženica" is quite right and I understand that about the balls too since there are probably some on the forum who still log their achievements in the young hiker's diary. I was up there about 14 days ago too and it was totally OK, didn't even use crampons, the ice axe was quite useful though. Today the conditions are of course completely different. Anyway, the most beautiful ascents to Triglav are the winter ones, but I won't explain why now. Maybe just this, that up there then are mostly the real mountaineers, in summer we know who all climbs up there.

Triglavski, don't mislead, 14 days ago conditions weren't so OK, without crampons you were risking your own life and don't think nothing can happen to you "REAL MOUNTAINEER"

Exactly like that that's why I always choose the Triglav tour in winter or spring. In summer unfortunately it's no longer that sight as it really is. Tine

I only had a remark on the non-objectivity of the lady's report, what (and when) each individual can do... Stane

Why shouldn't those who are capable and enjoy the mountains go up also in winter? .Danger? Given the number of dead and injured, driving a car on our roads is much more dangerous. And who discourages whom from driving? I think no one boasts where and when they were on some hill. Everyone just shares their observations and experiences - for all our benefit. So don't split hairs (since eggs are in fashion now) and argue among yourselves. Many beautiful moments to all in all seasons in the mountains.

Michael66, all nice and right! But some capable ones with their bragging put others in danger, and misleadingly write about their feats! E.g.: about writing conditions, that didn't even use crampons, such nonsense really shouldn't be written here, because then some idiot will go up and there will be trouble! Our roads and cars can't be compared to this!

Exactly that, nothing worse than misleading writing about conditions. We experienced ones will take full gear anyway, even if not needed then. No problem for us to carry a slightly heavier backpack. Anyway, those who think of going to high mountains, let them check condition info on other more appropriate websites.

Under favorable conditions with proper equipment and sufficient experience we can conquer the highest peaks even in winter. I think those who head to Triglav in winter and reach the top have enough experience. For the inexperienced the ascent stops already in Mojstrana when they see the road is closed (snowed in)!

has anyone been to očak in the last days? I've been up there several times in winter, but my balls are itching a bit to go up this weekend. and one more: I've gone up in winter only via vrata or krma; how about the other paths or car access? heartfelt thanks!

The road to Pokljuka is plowed in winter up to Rudno polje.
