But who knows where the snow starts in Krma, or from where or at what altitude can the ski ascent begin?

Hey!
Is there anyone here who climbed the German route this week and can tell about the conditions? I know new snow fell, but if conditions are OK, is it worth all this into the valley.
Thanks for the answerzavijanje z očmi

You're no climber; if you were, you wouldn't ask such stupid things!

Climber! Not only do you ask stupid things, but obviously, except for the first grade of elementary school, you haven't been to school anymore.

Hey!
Well, our small group was on Friday 8.2.08 on the way through Krma to Kredarica - ON FOOT. Like other groups, we didn't get far. Car has to be left already quite at the start of Krma valley, unless you have a jeep; otherwise it gets stuck and if you don't have at least snowshoes... with touring skis you're the winner, otherwise you "fight" with falls and snow and sinking etc. and you realize how agile you are, hahahah. So, touring skiers boldly, us walkers will try next time to get farther... lpnasmeh

Yesterday I was at Kredarica on foot from Krma. You can drive to the end of the valley without a problem, and with a bit of effort you can also reach Kredarica.

What's the winter ascent to the top like at all? From which side can you even climb up?

Take a guidebook in your hands and read it.
I'd say if you don't know this, you're not used to such a winter or alpinistic ascent either!

The easiest winter ascent is from Krma over Kalvarija to Kredarica. Most of those who climb to the top overnight at Kredarica and head to the top the next morning. There are two ascent routes, if there's little snow the path is the same as in summer. If there's a lot then you can climb the glacier to the ridge between Mali and Veliki Triglav. Only the ridge ascent to the top awaits.

Tomorrow 4 of us are heading to Kredarica from Krma, how it goes we'll report tonight.
As they say, there shouldn't be any bigger problem.
We'll see.

Today we visited Kredarica from the Krma direction.
The day was wonderfully sunny and down below without wind, only towards the top and on Kredarica itself it was blowing quite strongly.
The path is nicely trodden and packed.

Yesterday I was at Kredarica, on Triglav I think no one went. Some descended with boards and turns, 4 were walkers*. Snow is quite southern, at some places it was sinking. At Kredarica there was strong wind (gusts 40 m/s).
view is unique, a bit lower of course1

As I heard, it takes for Triglav from 5.5 hours to 8 hours walk depending on where you go from. Now I'm interested from which end the medium difficult route is. Some say like from cargo cableway to Grintovec. Cuz I wanna conquer it this year. LP mountain runnernasmeh

Probably you mean Grintovec from Jezersko.
By time, Triglav is about 2 hours longer.

For runners I suggest start a bit before planina Konjščica-Pokljuka, then Studorski preval to Vodnikov dom (spring water!), further a bit above the hut traverse slightly left towards upper Velski dolina to sedlo Dolič - not far away you'll spot the hut. At the saddle in the direction back from the hut to the left, cross Šmarjetna glava - great views! all the way to dom Planika and to the summit. The path I described is not monotonous like the one through Krma. It is varied - passes, valleys, slopes. If you're a good runner you'll reach the top in good 4 hours. About 5 years ago I met at Triglav Lakes a young military recruit with two ladies speaking disparagingly as if crossing this range and even jumping Triglav all that afternoon in late autumn. I advised him better to overnight at Prehodavci - NO, NO! But the companions fainted at Hribarci - went to the valley, he to the top. In the dusk he slipped on the return from Mali Triglav and unnecessarily ended one life in this world! So watch out for worn rocks on the summit part of the ridge and summer storms, have a nice tour.

Man, those 4 hours don't smell too good to me. And it's true that you start at Rudno polje. That's at 1200 m and half way to the top. But now I'm interested how long that route is? Because me and my dad (we run together) spent less than 2 hours to Grintovec from Kamniška Bistrica. With that we went easy. You know if you know those areas then you know how it looks like for how much it takes. And thanks for the answer viharniknasmehnasmeh

Hi! I've never been a special runner, but once I set a nice achievement from Kamniška Bistrica - koča to Kam. sedlo in 1,05 min 15 years ago when I was 22 in extreme tireless form (karate trainer, spiritual master). But for these times like this: Pokljuka - Vodnikov dom 1 h, then Dolič 45 min, then Planika 45 - break! and Mali Triglav to the top properly mountaineering in 1 h, but we're there somewhere and a bit of reserve... I don't know more, if there's wind then physics again?!zmeden Don't complicate too much, everything is relative, and nice regards.

Hi there;
I'm from Maribor, and I'm interested in conditions on Triglav. With mates "we have a wish" to go on Saturday 14.6. from Zadnjica valley over Dolič to Triglav. Please, can you advise if it's already passable without "winter gear - crampons and such".
Thanks and nice regards from Styria.

Hi,

@azuri, at Kredarica there's still more than 2 m of snow, so I think no explanation needed. Have a nice weekend.
