To Triglav?

Intention is good, but wonder if anyone cares where who's going, especially with such warning from ARSO.
Warning
On Monday strong bora on Primorska, up to 120-140 km/h on exposed spots. Strong wind on Bovec too, up to 90 km/h.
Above ~800m in west, north, central Slovenia 15-25cm snow, locally Julian Alps up to 45cm.

Looks like only "chosen ones" on this forum can describe their paths.

zmeden It's about a serious weather warning, which shouldn't be taken lightly, not about preventing any route descriptions. The fact is that real winter conditions already prevail in the mountains, at least for a week that not everyone is prepared for as they should be. Everyone takes their own responsibility; here on the forum we can only warn and advise each other on what and how. And if you think that only the chosen ones on this forum can describe their routes and no one else, you have serious self-confidence problems. I don't care what others think about me and my descriptions. If someone wants to read them, let them; if not, that's fine too. I'll still sleep peacefully.nasmeh Otherwise, this "chosen"jezen has been appearing too often lately and is tarnishing an otherwise very useful portal/forum...

Miri; if you don't get it, Atomsic wanted to go to Triglav but didn't grasp the conditions. IgorZlodej just advised him well-meaningly; from the description, it seems he suggested not to go due to the conditions, and I fully agree. I'm not defending anyone, but there's always someone who acts smart, right? I think visiting the high mountains is a bit risky (I know there'll be sun and it will trick you), and there are plenty of other accessible peaks.

This is what miri wrote: For the ascent I'll go via Planika and Triglav Notch. Wondering if it's better to descend to Kredarica or back the same way, since there'll be snow.
As a "dedicated" one and someone we're supposed to worship, which I absolutely don't want to be, I wrote and attached a warning about bad weather that's already developed in the mountains and will make the tough conditions even worse (snow was already on Triglav before). If someone sees this well-meaning advice differently, they have every right. I'll comment anyway. Miri said he'll go via Planika, which doesn't bother me, since we all know he won't climb over the roof of Planika hut, but past it. Triglav Notch is for routes from Dolič or Plemenice, from Planika it's just past the Notch. Via Noga or Gorjanska in winter? Nobody goes or very few, maybe late spring (they've skied it), so that's an idea from someone who doesn't know Triglav. Choosing unknown descent is even riskier. Those who go to the mountains in winter know the easiest and safest way down is the ascent route, 'cause you scout terrain on the way up, check dangers etc. Most important: check weather before trip and heed new snow risks.

Obviously, someone with so much experience to dare in these conditions just "for fun" to jump on Triglav (up here, down there).. doesn't need to ask such questions. Even more: the experienced don't think about it at this time.

Today and coming days many will go to Triglav. From all possible routes. All without gear! zmeden
And when on Triglav, they'll pay insurance... jezen

Another month and it starts again: tomorrow to there and there, do I need crampons and ice axe... whole winter like that...

Classic! mrk pogled

Probably Miri, like me, was surprised by Igor's reply, that likely nobody cares where who goes. Otherwise hats off to Igor in every way.

Don't you notice they're pulling your leg with lame statements, "fant" probably has never even been to Šmarna gora, or has.zadrega

I just skim conditions occasionally, and notice that those who chime in mostly know it all from TV and net warnings. Many times I've gone up when you warned people of certain death. Usually conditions were ok. Not for everyone. Please answer questions asked. Babbling about the rest is not appropriate. If no clue, better say nothing. Guessing if someone has been to Šmarna gora or not is silly.

Regards, see you in mountains, lp

vahta... don't forget that every pair of eyes has its own painter... abilities are different.. that's why this forum is for everyone - for the excellent and the less daring.. that's how it is! But I agree with you that it was easy enough for you, for many others probably not... and have you ever thought that you just had a lot of luck, but maybe one day you won't? zmeden

vahta, I agree with you.
kozorog, you might not have luck even in the best conditions, if I can put it that way. Even a nice sunny day without snow is no guarantee.

I can't pass by without chiming in, Igor, Geolog, Viharnik... etc believe me it's useless to argue and try everyone doesn't believe that winter Triglav requires quite some experience and knowledge. Anyway I've seen self-selection at Kredarica many times, where many realize winter ascent is no joke and for this year if I know anything it's the end of dry summer ascents on Triglav. So questions like do I need an ice axe... can I descend via Plemenice? etc.
Those so prepared and without experience turn around at Kredarica in most cases but that's not humiliating but smart and responsible action.
lp to all no hard feelingsnasmeh

fnikola... I know and realize! That's why I read more things to form at least a partial picture! For those to whom this forum means nothing because of "klanfanja" then let them not read it, as others' opinions will only mislead them!

Is anyone going tomorrow or in the next days to Kredarica? Interested in conditions on the route.
