Dear,
All of you arguing forget one little thing, vastness. When reading your comments one gets the feeling that by paraphrasing 50 km² (square kilometers) = 5000 km² etc. Towns, ranges are diverse and so are related measures.

Why parking in Vrata at all then? 25 euros daily? Only for chosen ones, elite?
So valley for excursionists who don't stay long, mountaineers will go elsewhere. Frequency of valley drives won't decrease. Those going short time should use public transport. Another misguided green move.

First and foremost shame for the state to give management of state road, built with state money, to insatiable gluttons whose only aim is cashing in. To those we all pay via registration.
On parking fee height local sheriffs discuss now, not worth wasting words. Things are already repulsive.

If the implementation of the regime in Vrata valley goes in the described direction, it's a shame. And sad. For serious hikes, the public transport schedule in season is surely too late and such prices are really not acceptable.
Simply, the daily parking fee could be normal and when all parking spots are full, no one could enter the valley until someone comes back...my personal opinion.

For me, the bus is a real alternative only if the dog can enter too, our faithful companion on hikes. Maybe banal for some, but that's how it is ... If there's no such option, we won't go to Vrata. Sad.
Parking fees are rising everywhere, even in home areas (Prtovč). I don't know where all that money ends up, certainly not in maintaining access roads and parking lots.

It seems they want to keep parking space for tourists who will spend in Vrata. I don't know what more they can spend than hikers in that available facility.
And the kiosk there in front of Aljažev dom is really a mirror of our Slovenia. Under the highest mountain, where crowds of foreigners flock, such a poor offer. Hard to choose a souvenir there. Too many available.
Oh, they can spend on parking and thus remember the Vrata valley under Triglav forever.

Again whining, poor paupers car is a cost, parking fees belong to that too. If you have for car, you have for parking too, right? There are still enough free starting points, just not Vrata and Vršič and Bohinj..,where you get most likes

That's why they fleece you, because you don't think with your own head.
Otherwise, in Maribor, under Pohorje, they have mainly arranged parking spaces, hotel and diligently cash in. The area around the pond is neglected for years. Easy parking they moved to the most distant parking lot. But it's worth walking a couple hundred meters further for 2 hours free parking.

On Soča there are three radars installed. Plave, Ročinj and now also in Žaga.

Jusk, you're probably a local and will get a lower price. At least that's how they practice now. For the Pohorje cable car, for example, Maribor residents pay 40% less. For a return ticket almost 44% less!
We're not bothered by parking fees that aren't exorbitant and above all equal for everyone. But it's not like that!

In the end there's no solution in wild parking on some gravel or blocking free trailheads, that should be clear to everyone.
Let's pour ourselves pure wine: the fact that some of us went to Vrata 15 times or more a year with our own car was also an anomaly and burden on parking lots and reason for current measures (when you multiply by a hundred or few hundred such individuals), even if perhaps smaller than the tourist rush in recent years.

Drago was saying a year or two ago "you pay parking in the city too". Here you go! Just what I've been warning about all along ...if they really cared about preserving nature they would limit the number of cars/visitors but not at the expense of high parking/entry fees but simply .. so many xy cars in the valley/pass is ok- pay something symbolic to maintain the system others public transport. But we've arrived exactly where I was yelling we'd sail to...we've turned the mountains into Disneyland...Fuck you up the ass Bohinjci, Kranjska Gora folks and Primorska side of the Alps. Me and many of you were lucky and hiked most for free.. and I'll keep hiking but always thinking I won't give you anything..or as little as possible. Not because I don't have money but just because you're greedy as eels.. (here Tadej-you can delete the comment).. We're just waiting for the Vršič tariff and surroundings..and of course additional restrictions on Pokljuka. Last one turn off the light. Think a bit and give your local area a fat thick spit.. Grab the toll if you go higher than Jesenice or turn to the Lesce/Bled highway exit.
Jusk? I invite you for coffee- parking in front of the house- 25 eur I charge..plus 4 for dogs... coming? ..it's nice ..I'm at home in the village..

Bravo Jusk...some of you will still applaud when they install meters on our mouths and charge for air...life is expensive 
What's most insidious in this specific case is that the state asphalted the road (not to mention thousands of volunteer hours for building and maintaining trails), local extortionists now cash in on that built infrastructure. And on top, without any shame, blatantly claiming "it's for the environment"

I'm wondering what PZS is doing with all this issue of absurdly rising parking fees? Isn't PZS an interest association that should represent members' interests? Based on experiences from abroad, where such interest groups actively fight for the well-being and best conditions for their members, one would expect PZS to stand against this trend of closing parking lots with ever more expensive barriers.
Because here every individual (except ranting on forums and FB ) can't really do anything  . The logic of "we'll go elsewhere where parking is still cheap/free" won't work for long, because this trend of extortionate parking fees has been spreading full throttle in Slovenia in recent years. And we can't rely on the state to limit it. As @Trobec wrote... precisely the state served the municipality this road for fleecing after asphalting it with our money  In my opinion, PZS should step in here, which is supposed to represent all us hikers.

If it was really about traffic regulation and environmental protection, then the solution is simple: up to a certain time (e.g. until 8am) driving into Vrata and parking at current prices is possible. That would solve the problem for all serious hikers and walkers.
For tourists arriving after 8am there's the bus.
But since those responsible actually don't care about mountaineering nor nature protection, but only about collecting as much money as possible, it won't be like that.
