Well, yeah - I hope we don't miss it the third time.nasmeh
And adding some photos, those Bohinj Mountains are beautiful.

The first photo is not taken from Planina Razor, on the 6th photo it's not the Kanin range (Rdeči rob towards Krn). Best

The first picture was taken from Tolminske Ravne. And also, these hills are Tolminski, or at least Tolmin-Bohinj Mountainsnasmeh

If anyone is interested: the hut on Planina Razor will be open in May on Saturdays and Sundays!

Well, thanks for the warnings, corrections inserted, and Ravne is written with a capital letter, how it's declined is another story. nasmeh

Tolminski Kuk - on Sunday, the morning which was rather sad weather-wise turned into a sunny day. Start at the hut by Savica at half past five in the morning. Parking lot almost full, but no hikers anywhere, just one couple. But we met many hikers when returning to the starting point.

Hello. For some time now, the idea of a full-day tour of the highest peaks of the Lower Bohinj Mountains has been swirling in my head. I would like to connect: Planina Razor, Vrh nad Škrbino, Tolminski Kuk and Tolminski Migovec. I'm interested in what sequence and direction you recommend, approximate times for this tour at a moderate pace (a bit faster than in the guides and maps). The Tolminske Ravne-Migovec-Kuk-Vrh nad Škrbino-Planina Razor variant seems attractive to me. I'm worried about getting lost on the unmarked path from Kal to Migovec. The opposite direction worries me a bit about the descent on the climbing section. Given that you write about bad roads to the starting point, I'm also a bit confused whether it's better to start from Tolminske Ravne or from Planina Kuk. Thanks for opinions and info.

I walked the mentioned path in both directions, last time in early May this year in the direction that tempts you. Shortly after the village of Ravne there is a direction sign for Kal and that's all there is for markings in that direction to the planina, but the path is clearly visible and Migovec also indicates the direction. You can't miss it there, as the branch to Migovec on the pasture is a couple of 10m behind the sheds - noticeable little path goes slightly right and up towards the north. The main path (traverse) towards Dobrenjščica and Krn goes westwards and slightly downhill. If you're at least a bit faster than the guide, you can also go to Podrta Gora and then over Vrh nad Škrbino, where you can decide for an unmarked extension to the pass Globoko, or descend to Razor planina and it won't be more than 8h. And one more thing, I don't know how it is if you start from Planina Kuk, but I'm sure that Ravne offers a nicer and very important (at least for me) circular tour. The road to Ravne is quite ok and asphalted. Happy hiking.

I wrote about the bad road myself - not to the starting point itself, but through the hilly area and settlements, since we didn't choose the motorway, well for home then yes.nasmeh

Yesterday's ascent to Tolminski Kuk I did from Vogla with a ridge traverse from the Globoko pass to Kuk. I climbed all peaks except Vrh Konte. From Kuk I descended through Dolnike, over Govnjač to Komna and to the valley. Extremely nice weather, beautiful views and peace.

When I looked at the clear sky over Tolminske Ravne yesterday morning, for a moment I thought such a wonderful day should perhaps be used for some "more prestigious" peak, rather than these "little hills" in the ridge between Tolmin and Bohinj.... But doubts if we chose right dissipated with every new step...

This is how we went: Tolminske Ravne – Planina Kal – Tolminski Migovec – Tolminski Kuk – Zeleni vrh – Škrbina – Vrh nad Škrbino – Planina Razor – Tolminske Ravne.

This tour is pure enjoyment. Paths easy, step relaxed. Views first-class. Solitude guaranteed nasmeh. Flower lovers will be thrilled. Such a quantity (now mostly wilted) of edelweiss we've seen so far only on Travnik. At this time, autumn meadows are adorned with huge hairy hawkweed.

Neither the fog that draped around the peaks early afternoon and deterred us from ascending Podrta Gora could spoil the enthusiasm and nice impressions zadrega. If I'd known it would blow away so quickly, I'd have waited a bit... but we got clarity again on Škrbina and didn't hesitate to step onto one more peak...

Just before the end of the tour, we were mulling impressions with a spoon in hand in the friendly Hut on Planina Razor. By then all the "troubles" of veeeeery early rising and endleeeeess winding drive to Tolminske Ravne were long forgotten...nasmeh

Easy steps flow over soft grasses towards Kuk...14
From the path to Kuk one can nicely see how loaded the climbing area below Vrh nad Škrbino is...15

When we were below Podrta gora, fog suddenly crept in...22
...so we continued traversing towards Škrbina...23
At Škrbina however a turnaround... the fog dissipated... and Bohinj Lake appeared in the valley...24
We didn't hesitate to climb also to Vrh nad Škrbino...25
Under the summit we find flowering round-leaved mošnjak...26
On the summit of Vrh nad Škrbino...27
And yet another view from the top to Lake Bohinj...28
From the top we both descended towards Planina Razor, where we satisfied our hunger in the pleasant hut :-)29
No wonder the food is so tasty... the diligent caretakers even cultivate a vegetable garden :-) 30
From the alpine pasture just down into the valley... Tolminske Ravne are not far....31

Thanks, @margu50 nasmeh. Yeah, we spent pretty much the whole day...almost from dawn to dusk mežikanje. If you drive that far, you gotta enjoy the whole day nasmeh. We only checked the clock when we roughly calculated how much time we had left for "chilling" on one of the peaks so darkness wouldn't catch us mežikanje. Otherwise I'd say roughly (also based on signposts and guidebook data), effective hiking is approx. 6-8 hours, depending on how fast you are.

On Friday I did a circular tour: Planina Kuk- Planina Razor- Škrbina- Zeleni vrh- Tolminski Kuk- Tolminski Migovec- Pl. Kal- Pl. Razor- Pl. Kuk.
At the starting point it was quite windy, cold and foggy. "Winter" ended right above Pl. Kuk. Then just sun and fantastic views far around. Sun on Primorska and "sea" on Gorenjska, clouds of course.
The whole tour was pure pleasure. Met more chamois than hikers along the way. Path without issues, no snow, just from Kuk to Migovec need to follow the rare faded marks and cairns more carefully.
But you can tell the day is already very short. Shame, otherwise could have enjoyed another hour.
On Pl. Kuk there was still winter1
View towards the starting point, where wind and fog ruled all day2
Today's trio: Zeleni Vrh, Kuk and Migovec3
To Vrh nad Škrbino some other time4
Karst phenomena are not lacking...5
Plata was alone today6
The path to Kuk will still be long7
Better than people, chamois kept me company8
Even snow was there. If you wanted to step on it, you had to go to the Bohinj side already...9
The fog rolled higher and higher10
Beautiful views to the west...11
to the east...12
and to nearby and distant neighbors13
I also jump to Migovec14
And yet another from the top of Migovec15
Idyll on Pl. Kal16
Wonderful play of sun and mountains. Shadow of Migovec on Škrbina17
Unfortunately all good things come to an end...18
