Not a crowded mountain at all. If you start at Tolminske Ravne (where they sell good homemade cheese), and continue over Tolminski Migovec to Kuk, then along the ridge further - over a few peaks,... and rest at Planina Razor. Beautiful tour, with weather favorable to hikers, as there was no great heat, but on this path only us three hikers. Well, who would drive the long and narrow road to Tolminske Ravne??? On the way also three snowfields, but the snow was south-facing, so no problems crossing. Best regards!

Has anyone returned from Tolminski Kuk from the saddle between Zeleni vrh and Mali vrh (Podrta gora) via pathless terrain to Dolnike plateau towards Komna?

To Tolminski Kuk on Saturday from Koča Merjasec at Vogl or from Škrbina. To Škrbina almost 4 hours, from Škrbina to top of Tolminskega Kuk maybe 45 min - for normal hikers. Path easy. Descent towards Mahavšček - requires sure step, terrain scree, markings to search for so not to get lost... Nice, scenic but quite lonely peak. Recommend reverse (approach from Komna and continue to Škrbina...).

Today on Tolmin Kuk from Komna via Škrbina, descent to Planja saddle and shortcut to the flat above Planina Govnjač. Weather couldn't be nicer. In the description on hribi.net they discourage the direct path from below Dom na Komni to Krošnja - I must say the path is nicely passable and shortens the route by about half an hour. The pathless descent from Planja saddle is not complicated.

There's still a lot of snow. So that's how it is during the day.

Darinka4, there really is a huge amount of snow, for comparison I'm attaching pics from last April. For some night hike the time will still come...

Clouds just right to get soaked with a hangover no way along the ridge to Vrh nad Škrbino, to Tolminski Kuk and Migovec anyway, even if wet as a mouse 12.5

During our somewhat longer stay in these wonderful areas also on the king of Tolmin Mountains, this time from Tolmin Plains. It was nice, also on all the others we dedicated a bit of our vacation to. More on the link and happy trails to all, even vacation ones http://stezeinsledi.blogspot.com/2018/07/tolminske-gore.html

The world above Tolmin Plains is beautiful, so even the long and winding drive to them soon fades. Best is to do the whole loop above them and on Wednesday exactly that was done. Pl. Kal - Tolminski Migovec - Tolminski Kuk - Podrta gora - Vrh nad Škrbino - Pl. Razor and return, was our route. First time on Podrta gora and Vrh nad Škrbino today. On Tolmin Plains a multitude of swallows caught the eye, apparently they found their world here. As if there were millions, never seen so many. On Pl. Kal it's finally confirmed what beautiful world you've entered. And the fairy tale continues upwards. Wonderful ascent to Tolminski Kuk, inviting with flower oases, gentians right on the path that's just visible enough to know few people walk it and indeed no one around. Only at the summit someone doing his loop, heading further to Krn Lake. Wasn't sure if ascent to Podrta gora would succeed, escaped me twice before and third time's the charm. But succeeded this time, joy at top complete. Plenty to see, views somehow different from other peaks, more rugged, draws eye to minor peaks like Govnjaški kuk and Mohor, in distance Montaž one side and Razor the other. Vrh nad Škrbino surprises at top with grassy growth and bench, wouldn't expect after steep climb via cables and pegs. Longer stop at idyllic Pl. Razor to check if raw cheese strudels still as good as before. They didn't disappoint. Even sparked desire for quick return, maybe from Knežkih raven .

Start at Tolminske Ravne, then over Migovec to Tolminski Kuk. Continuation over Zeleni vrh, Vrh nad Škrbino...to Globoko pass, from there descent past Planina Razor to start. All praise to the warden for the neat and exemplary bivouac at Globoko.
