Trekking poles

Folding large diameter snow baskets are used exclusively in winter. Compatibility of baskets probably matches the attachment to poles only from the same manufacturer. If poles are winter ones, winter basket comes with, otherwise for summer version winter basket must be bought extra. There is also phone, call and ask.
Some really want service on a plate, how will you achieve anything productive in life with that attituderolleyes. At least at electrotechnical school they taught us to think with our own head.

Viharnik, thanks for the moralizing.
No problem, if you happen to ask something I know more about than you (which you probably find unlikely), I'll gladly answer. That's one of the nice features of forums - besides some enjoying putting others down on the side. Hey, to each their own joy.
Have a nice one.

The best trekking poles have proven to be Leki poles, which I have had for 10 years. Most choice and spare parts you find at:

...Depends on who, Leki poles. My Softlite AS drove me crazy. They collapse where you least expect, lots of material stretching depending on cold, heat. Much more satisfied with Elan Tehnomat, and half the price....

Regardless of where you buy trekking poles, cheap or expensive, unscrew one part and make sure what material the fixed screw is made of. If it's aluminum don't buy them, because aluminum screw and steel or brass nut don't go together. In the shortest time it will destroy the thread and you won't be able to attach the individual elements/tubes/poles anymore. Buy only poles that have steel screw and nut. I'm writing this because by profession I'm a metalworker.

I know it sounds weird, but poles with plastic screw lasted the most for me.

Aluminum poles and steel nut don't go together even by chance! Add moisture and what do you get?
I agree with miri and majdag.

You read poorly; read it once more and say where I wrote that aluminum poles and steel nut don't go together!?

Surprised by the posts of some who behave in an uncultured manner. One just has to realize that not all people know everything. And if someone asks something that is familiar and well-known to someone else, it is nice to explain it to the ignorant in such a way that the ignorant takes something away from the explanation. If someone considers others "dummies" or something similar because they don't know as much as they do, then the solution is quite simple. Instead of insulting and elevating oneself above others, it is best to write nothing and go to some other page. Or first count to 50 and decide in that time that there is no sense in underestimating other people. Because such things can quickly come back, and they are quite uncultured. I believe that people for whom hiking in the mountains, relaxation, and enjoyment of nature are important also have a more humane and human attitude toward other people. But such responses warm me a bit, because I know they can easily be avoided; one just needs to take a little time, thought, and patience. Let forums be friendly chatting and help for others who don't know something yet, where the knowledgeable can inform them easily without underestimating or using inappropriate terms.

I'm bringing the topic back to the poles.
I wrote off the mentioned poles assembly system long ago. For a few euros more, you get poles with the "FlickLock" switching system. You won't regret it.

OK, what interests me regarding trekking poles is the following. When I went to the shop, I noticed that some have rubber tips, others metal pointed tips. I assume the latter are recommended for the hills?

Hi, I don't know if some similar topic is already open, anyway.
Given that poles in the price range up to about 40 euros so far haven't lasted more than one season for me (twisting, failure of folding systems, entire lower tip coming off...), I'm wondering if it makes sense to spend more money on poles or if they are just consumable material? Now I'm eyeing some from BD for about 64 euros and wonder if the price is actually determined by quality? So far I've had Komperdell (failure of the folding-extending system), Outdoor Expert (they quickly twisted and then broke, some from Hervis (tips came off). I think those from the gas station (Hi-Tec) for 7 euros held up the best. What are your experiences? Will BD hold up or is it better to buy some for 30 euros again? Best regards, Aljaz

I have had them from Tehnomat in Kranj for 15 years already.
You can also get all the parts that get damaged there for a couple of euros.

I swear by Leki. Indestructible. I have had some for more than 15 years, still completely OK, nothing wrong with them at all. For fashion I bought others, have had them 5 years, also super. Before Leki I had Kilimanjaro, the tip gone after a few seasons. A little money, a little music.

Me too, the tips have fallen off every pair of poles. I drill the end a bit and put a pin in, and they're good for a couple more years....zavijanje z očmi

Tehnomat, if Kranj isn't too far for you. As grega says, you won't get replacement parts that cheap anywhere else. They replaced the tip for free for me, because it "supposedly" shouldn't break. Before I had Outdoor Expert and I destroyed them beyond recognition in one year..velik nasmeh

They also have them in quite a few sports stores around Slovenia, mainly cycling ones. nasmeh
On the website tehnomat.si you have price list of poles and parts, as well as list of stores.mežikanje
